Pham Duc Phong: From a shy boy to a child star of VTV
Child actor Pham Duc Phong, who plays Bien in '1 millimeter away from you', shares about his journey to acting, overcoming shyness, and the impressions he makes through each role.
Pham Duc Phong, the child actor who plays the role of young Bien in the film "1 millimeter away from you", is receiving great attention from television audiences. This is his second film to be broadcast on VTV3 in 2025, after his role as Phom in "Dusty Roads", which helped the young actor quickly make his mark.

The unexpected journey from acting class to VTV screen
Sharing about his chance to become an actor, Pham Duc Phong said that at first it was his family's direction. "At that time, I was not confident and I was often shy, so my parents decided to let me take an acting class during my summer break to be more confident when communicating with people," Phong said. From the initial goal of improving his confidence, he gradually fell in love with art and found a love for this job after three years of studying.
The opportunity to appear in both VFC dramas came through acting teachers. When the crew of "1 millimeter away from you" was recruiting actors, the teacher encouraged Phong to audition. Having watched "Dusty Roads" before, the directors quickly recognized Phong's suitability for the role of Bien and assigned him the role without much challenge.

Two roles, one mark: The difference between Bien and Phom
Although both Phom and Bien have difficult circumstances and lack affection, Pham Duc Phong believes that Bien's role is a bigger challenge. "In my opinion, Phom in the other movie has a sad but still cheerful personality. Bien in this movie is more mature and her personality is not very cheerful, so I feel that this Bien role is more difficult," the young actor analyzed.
To get into character, Phong shared that he read the script carefully to grasp the character's psychology and act naturally "like the way I meet and treat people every day". He also emphasized the enthusiastic support from the directors and film crew that helped him complete his role well.

Dream of 'less miserable' roles and gratitude to the audience
When asked about actor Hoang Long, who plays the role of Bien as an adult, Phong expressed his admiration. He said he was impressed with Hoang Long's role as Sen in the movie "Red Rain" and believes Hoang Long will perfectly portray Bien.
Regarding his future direction, Phong hopes to try his hand at more diverse roles. "Next year I want to get a role with a different character psychology... happier and stronger, less miserable," he humorously shared. He affirmed his desire to pursue an acting career long-term.
Finally, Pham Duc Phong sent his sincere thanks to the audience for watching and supporting the child actors in the film. "I really thank everyone for watching us and supporting us... I hope everyone will welcome the new scenes of the characters when they grow up and always support the film 1 millimeter away from you," he said.
