Distinguishing between genuine and counterfeit goods and identifying fake branded products in the e-commerce environment.
On the morning of September 25th, the Nghe An Provincial Market Management Department, in coordination with the Vietnam Association for Combating Counterfeiting and Protecting Intellectual Property Rights of Foreign-Invested Enterprises in Vietnam (VACIP), organized a training conference on distinguishing genuine from counterfeit goods and identifying counterfeit products bearing fake trademarks in the e-commerce environment.
Participants in the training included representatives from the Department of Industry and Trade, the Department of Science and Technology, the Provincial Police, the Provincial Border Guard Command, and the Customs Sub-department of Region XI.

At the conference, members of the Association for Combating Counterfeiting and Protecting Intellectual Property Rights of Foreign-Invested Enterprises in Vietnam (VACIP), along with representatives from various brands, presented methods for identifying and distinguishing genuine from counterfeit products of several brands. Participants in the training exchanged ideas and asked questions about difficulties and obstacles encountered during implementation.

The training conference aims to enhance the capacity and professional skills of officials and civil servants involved in combating counterfeit goods in the field of intellectual property; strengthen coordination among departments, agencies, and units; and between state agencies and intellectual property rights holders regarding skills in identifying trademarks and distinguishing genuine from counterfeit goods. This will improve market inspection and control, and the handling of cases related to counterfeit goods and intellectual property infringement.
In the current context, intellectual property infringement is on the rise with many new methods and tactics, such as applying high technology and using modern equipment to produce goods, making it difficult for consumers and authorities to detect genuine and counterfeit products.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Don, Deputy Head of the Nghe An Market Management Department, stated: Violations of intellectual property rights on e-commerce platforms not only cause serious damage to rights holders but also negatively impact the healthy and sustainable development of the market.

In 2025, closely following the directives of the Prime Minister and the Provincial People's Committee on strengthening the fight against smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods in the new situation, the Market Management Sub-Department focused its resources on the fight against smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and intellectual property infringement. As a result, many cases of intellectual property infringement were detected and handled. In the first eight months of 2025, inspections resulted in the handling of 45 cases of intellectual property infringement, with administrative fines totaling 385 million VND. The value of the infringing goods was 20 million VND.
