According to reporters' observations, on January 20th, numerous machines and workers were busy constructing embankments along the Nam Mo River, including installing reinforced concrete slopes, reinforcing the embankment crest, and strengthening the base of the walls with sturdy gabions to prevent landslides and erosion. The work was progressing rapidly, especially with Tet (Lunar New Year) fast approaching.
Mr. Thai Van Hung, Deputy Director of the Project Management Board for Investment and Construction of Agricultural and Rural Development Projects in Nghe An, said that the overall progress of the Nam Mo River embankment project has reached over 90%, and the unit has also requested contractors to increase machinery and equipment, take advantage of favorable weather conditions to work overtime and in shifts to accelerate progress, striving to complete the project in January 2025.

According to our findings, on March 15, 2024, the Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 567/QD-UBND approving the adjustment of the project and the adjustment of the contractor selection plan for the project: Nam Mo River Embankment section passing through Block 4 and Block 5, Muong Xen town. The total length of the embankment is 2,420m, of which the right bank embankment is 1,118m long and the left bank embankment is 1,302m long. The project is divided into 4 construction packages 5A, 5B, 5C, and 5D with a total construction value of over 87 billion VND.
This project is extremely necessary and urgent to mitigate the consequences of natural disasters such as floods, especially landslides, and plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety of lives and property for households in Blocks 4 and 5 of Muong Xen town, protecting economic and social infrastructure in the area; at the same time, contributing to the successful implementation of 3 national target programs in the poor mountainous district of Ky Son.

According to the initial plan, the project was expected to be completed by December 31, 2024. However, in reality, the project had to be extended to 2025. The reason is that during construction, the project encountered many unfavorable weather conditions, especially in September, October, and November when there was heavy rain in Ky Son district, causing river levels to rise, coupled with water regulation by hydroelectric power plants, which affected the construction...

Nevertheless, the weather-related difficulties have now been overcome, and the project is completing its final stages. Residents living along the Nam Mo River in Ky Son district are now very excited in the early days of the new year, as they will now have less to worry about during the rainy season.
