Protest China's organization of sailing races in Hoang Sa

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued an official response to the news that China is organizing the 5th Ty Nam Cup yacht race in the Paracel Islands.

Today, answering a reporter's question asking for Vietnam's reaction to the news that China is organizing the 5th Ty Nam Cup yacht race in the Hoang Sa archipelago and establishing an office of the Hainan Immigration and Quarantine Bureau on Phu Lam island, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang affirmed:

“Vietnam has full legal basis and historical evidence to affirm Vietnam's sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos.

The above activities of China have violated Vietnam's sovereignty and complicated the situation in the East Sea. Vietnam resolutely protests and requests China not to repeat similar actions."
