Finland closes all border checkpoints with Russia.
(Baonghean.vn) - The Finnish government has decided to close all border checkpoints with Russia starting December 15 due to the influx of refugees.

The Finnish government's statement read: "The government has decided to close border checkpoints on the land border between Finland and Russia until January 14th of next year. The decision will take effect from December 15th, 2023 at 8 PM. Applications for international protection will not be accepted at the Finnish-Russian border checkpoints."
Helsinki is the latest NATO member to abandon its long-standing policy of neutrality shortly after Russia launched its military operation in Ukraine last year. Russia said Finland posed no direct threat but vowed to take "retaliatory measures" against any actions that harm its national security.
