Finland closes all border checkpoints with Russia
(Baonghean.vn) - The Finnish government has decided to close all checkpoints on the border with Russia starting December 15 due to the wave of refugees.

"The government has decided to close checkpoints at the land border between Finland and Russia until January 14 next year. The decision will come into effect from December 15, 2023 at 8 p.m. Applications for international protection will no longer be accepted at Finnish-Russian border checkpoints," the Finnish government said in a statement.
Helsinki is the latest NATO member to abandon its longstanding policy of neutrality following Russia’s military campaign in Ukraine last year. Russia says Finland poses no direct threat but has vowed to take “retaliatory measures” against any action that undermines its security.
