| Finland's Defense Minister does not consider the deployment of Russian missile systems in the Baltic Sea to be a direct threat. |
"I wouldn't like to speculate, but it's clear that Finland, as an EU member state, has an obligation to help other EU countries, and Finland will also be supported in times of crisis," Niinistö stated in an interview with Finnish television channel MTV3 News.
At the same time, he added, there is currently nothing threatening Finland. The minister also noted that he observed "no threatening tendencies from the Russian leadership" toward Helsinki. The Baltic states have repeatedly accused Moscow of plotting to exacerbate the situation in the region. Meanwhile, Russian officials deny such accusations.
