Accordingly, many British citizens disagree with London on the "Skripal case" and believe that all accusations against Russia are fabricated. "On behalf of my family and friends, I sincerely apologize for the false accusations against Russia," one British citizen wrote.
Here is another letter sent to the Russian Embassy:
"Gentlemen, I deeply regret our government's handling of the Skripal case. I believe this is a conspiracy aimed at discrediting Russia and diverting public attention from our internal problems, such as the very serious crime situation in London and elsewhere, as well as the political instability resulting from our departure from the European Union."
Many letters expressed sympathy for the Russian government and President V. Putin himself, while calling British Prime Minister Theresa May "irresponsible".
Regarding the Skripal spy case, London immediately accused Moscow when police found the father and daughter unconscious due to "Novichok poisoning" in Salisbury in early April, while Russia asserted that this was a fabrication and that the substance was neither produced nor present in Russia at the time.
Meanwhile, a chemical testing center in Switzerland concluded that the poison in the Salisbury incident was a different type, not Novichok, and was manufactured and stored in the US, UK, and some NATO countries.
