Phan Văn Đức is confident he has a 50% chance of starting for the Vietnamese national team.
Despite playing a crucial role for the Vietnam U23 team, Phan Văn Đức hasn't yet achieved his full potential with the senior national team. Nevertheless, the SLNA player is confident of securing a starting spot in the AFF Cup, given the demanding nature of coach Park Hang Seo.
Phan Văn Đức revealed upon being called up to the squad preparing for the 2018 AFF Cup: “This training camp includes not only young players, but also some senior players. They are all excellent and experienced. I felt a little awkward during the first training session. However, I overcame it and now I can keep pace with the senior players.”

In this training camp, coach Park Hang-seo has called up many players for the midfield. However, Van Duc believes he has a 50% chance of starting: “As a young player, I have to try my best. I think everyone has their own strengths, and my chance is 50%.”
Meanwhile, center-back Bui Tien Dung shared: “I think the defense has many good individuals and I have to try my best. Van Thanh's absence is a big loss for the team because Van Thanh is a good individual. But the players who have been added are eagerly waiting to show their abilities.”
According to the Viettel FC center-back, the Vietnamese national team's greatest strength is its unity, the combination of youth and experienced senior players. Many experienced senior players will be a valuable addition to the U23 squad.
