According to AFP, on the social media platform X, French President Emmanuel Macron emphasized that providing Ukraine with all the necessary means to protect its airspace and prevent military action is an extremely urgent task.

Macron said he had a direct telephone conversation with his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky. During that conversation, the two countries agreed to increase support through the transfer of interceptor missiles and to continue maintaining their strategic cooperation.

The exchange between the two leaders took place just ahead of a meeting of Ukraine's allies in the "Coalition of Ready Countries." This strategic initiative, led by France and the UK, is scheduled for August 24th to discuss options for increasing pressure on Russia.

On the Ukrainian side, President Zelensky stated that he had comprehensive discussions on key issues with President Macron. The top priority in the talks was the need to establish a secure air defense network. The Kyiv leader affirmed that the two sides had reached an agreement to expedite the delivery of modern French equipment and missiles. Zelensky also specifically thanked President Macron for granting permission for the direct production of missiles.

The meeting of the Alliance of Ready Countries on August 24th will coincide with Ukraine's Independence Day. This important event will be co-chaired by President Macron via online format. The agenda will also include German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and British Prime Minister Andy Burnham.

An official from the European Union has revealed further information about the organization of this event. Specifically, around 10 high-ranking leaders, including the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, will travel to Kyiv to attend the conference aimed at strengthening unity.
