France: Türkiye's purchase of S-400 is a sovereign choice
Türkiye's purchase of the Russian S-400 air defense missile system is a sovereign choice, but it must remember the integrity of NATO, the French Foreign Ministry said in a statement amid strong US criticism of the transaction.

"Türkiye's purchase of military equipment is clearly a sovereign decision. But the integrity of the NATO alliance is no less important. And this nature is facilitated by the mutual compatibility of the allies' military capabilities," the French foreign ministry commented.
It added that "future differences between the allies undermine this unity".
"As the European Commissioner reminded yesterday during his visit to Ankara, France stands side by side with its ally Türkiye to counter regional threats that could affect the country's security," the French Foreign Ministry stressed.
