France urges the EU to strongly oppose US tariffs.
France wants the European Union to take strong countermeasures against the tariffs imposed by the United States.

According to RIA Novosti, Bloomberg, citing reliable sources, reported that several EU countries, including France, want Brussels to take strong retaliatory measures against economic pressure from the US.
The article stated: "France wants the European Union to consider, for the first time, the possibility of using the strongest retaliatory measures against the United States."
According to Bloomberg, Paris intends to take such a step if US President Donald Trump imposes tariffs to pressure the EU.
The EU could respond with a range of measures, including restrictions on trade, services and intellectual property rights, direct investment, and access to public contracts.
Sources indicate that the European Commission currently has no intention of implementing these measures and is awaiting details on the economic restrictions that Washington is expected to announce in early April.
Earlier, Benjamin Haddad, Minister for European Affairs at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said the European Union would be ready, if necessary, to go further in responding to US trade tariffs, including sanctions on digital services and intellectual property. He noted that at this point, the response would be “proportionate.”
From April 1st, the EU will reinstate measures that had been suspended against the US since 2018 and 2020. The European Commission stated that this is the first time these measures have been fully implemented. In addition, the EU is also introducing further countermeasures against the US, affecting goods worth approximately €18 billion and set to take effect in mid-April.
