France holds three days of national mourning for victims of the Nice terrorist attack.

On July 16, France began a three-day national mourning period to commemorate the 84 people killed in the horrific terrorist attack in Nice.

Throughout France, all buildings and offices simultaneously lowered their flags to half-mast; all entertainment activities ceased. Many popular tourist attractions in France also temporarily closed. Meanwhile, security continued to be heightened in areas with large crowds.

Along the Promenade des Anglais in the southern city of Nice, people quietly scattered flowers, toys, pictures, lit candles, and observed moments of silence to remember and pray for the unfortunate victims who lost their lives.

Iolanda Elisabeth, who was present in the pedestrian area at that fateful moment, said that although still in shock, she came here to pray for those who died: “Today, everyone is gathered here to remember those who died. And also the victims who witnessed that horrific tragedy. Like me. Today we came here to cry to ease our pain, but we need to be strong, united, and move on with life. We will never forget our loved ones. And we will never let that happen again.”

“Coming back here is very difficult for me. But we still have to come. Because otherwise, we won’t be able to forget. And that would be even worse if we moved on with our lives. It’s better that we face it instead of shutting ourselves off in fear. It’s so hard. Praying for those who have lost their lives,” Elisabeth shared.

The terrorist attack occurred on France's National Day, July 14th, in the city of Nice as people poured into the streets to celebrate and watch the fireworks. A terrorist's armored van, loaded with weapons, plowed into the crowd and opened fire indiscriminately.

Three days have passed, but the people of Nice and across France are still grieving, grieving, angry, and fearful. The terrorist attack killed 84 people, including 10 children.

Currently, 50 injured people are in critical condition, along with severe psychological trauma for those who witnessed the heartbreaking tragedy.
