After speaking with typhoon victims in Vietnam, US President Trump praised Vietnam's strong economic development and said that "Vietnamese students are the best students."

The plane carrying US President Donald Trump landed at Da Nang airport at 12:20 PM. Instead of going to his hotel, Mr. Trump went straight to the Convention Center where the CEO Summit was taking place and delivered a speech at the session that began at 1:30 PM.

Beginning his speech, Mr. Trump shared his condolences for the losses suffered by the Vietnamese people after Typhoon Damrey, stating, "The American people are praying for you and hoping for your recovery in the coming months. Our hearts go out to the people of Vietnam affected by this terrible storm."

The US President praised the economic transformation of many Asian countries such as Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Singapore, and South Korea, affirming that the US has always been a dynamic partner of the Asia-Pacific region since its founding.

"We seek friendship, but we don't dream of domination," he emphasized.

Mr. Trump also shared a vision of a free and open Indo-Pacific region where nations can share prosperity in peace.

Regarding trade, Trump warned against actions that "treat America unfairly," stating that the US would no longer tolerate unfair economic or trade practices.

"The United States will no longer tolerate blatant intellectual property theft. We will confront tactics that coerce businesses into handing over technology to the state and forcing them into joint ventures in exchange for market access," Trump emphasized.

He asserted that countries that abide by the rules will become America's closest economic partners. "Those who fail to do so can be certain that America will no longer turn a blind eye to violations, deception, or economic aggression. Those days are over."

The US President argued that open markets cannot be achieved without ensuring fair market access, asserting that unfair trade "hurts everyone."

Mr. Trump stated that the U.S. would sign bilateral trade agreements with Indo-Pacific nations that adhere to fair and reciprocal trade principles. "What we are not continuing to do is enter into large agreements that infringe upon American sovereignty."

Claiming that North Korea "is taking dangerous steps," Trump called on countries to unite and not allow the people and the region to be subjected to "nuclear blackmail."

He affirmed that countries must also respect the rule of law, individual rights, and freedom of navigation and overflight. These three principles create stability, respect, security, and prosperity. The US President called for addressing security threats, smuggling, drug trafficking, corruption, cybercrime, and territorial expansion.

Referring to the Trung Sisters, the US President said that they had awakened the spirit of the Vietnamese people. "Patriots throughout history hold the answers to our future. They remind us who we are, they remind us of what we should do," he said.

"We have the power to lift our people and the world to new heights. Let's choose a future of patriotism, prosperity, and no poverty. Let's choose a free and open Indo-Pacific," the US President emphasized.
