Nearly 1 ton of diseased pork was discovered being frozen in Hop Minh commune.
On August 5, authorities in Hop Minh commune (formerly Yen Thanh district) discovered that a local household was storing nearly 1 ton of infected pork in freezers at their home, not yet able to sell it.

Through a surprise inspection, the authorities of Hop Minh commune discovered that Ms. NTH (born in 1972, residing in Phan Thanh hamlet, Hop Minh commune) was storing nearly 1 ton of frozen pork in 7 large capacity refrigerators. At the time of the inspection, all the meat had not been sold and did not have any documents proving its origin, source or quarantine as prescribed.

Immediately after that, Hop Minh Commune People's Committee coordinated with the Commune Police to take samples for testing. The results determined that all of the above pork was diseased pork. The authorities requested the destruction of all the meat to ensure food hygiene and safety and prevent and control epidemics in the area.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao - Chairman of the People's Committee of Hop Minh Commune said: The locality is continuing to closely coordinate with the police force to inspect, detect and strictly handle violations of regulations on food safety and disease prevention in the area.
