Attending the Launching Ceremony in response to the 2017 Tuberculosis Prevention Action Month and summarizing the 2016 tuberculosis prevention activities, there were representatives of the Department of Health, relevant departments and agencies, and medical units in 21 districts, cities and towns. |
In recent years, with the support of the national tuberculosis prevention program and international organizations, Nghe An has achieved many remarkable results in tuberculosis prevention activities in the area, specifically: In 2016, the province detected, managed, and treated 2,973 tuberculosis patients of all types; cured 90.7% of the total number of patients; patients who dropped out of treatment accounted for 0.5%; the mortality rate was 0.8%; sputum tests were conducted for 33,886 cases.
The work of preventing and controlling tuberculosis in Nghe An is still facing many difficulties such as the lack of facilities for preventing and controlling tuberculosis at all levels; coordination among health units is not yet synchronized; a large number of people still have inferiority complex about tuberculosis; access to health care services for people in remote areas is facing many difficulties.

Eliminating TB from the community remains a major challenge, especially in the context of increasingly reduced funding. At the ceremony, Nghe An province clearly stated that the theme of this year's World Tuberculosis Day is "Unite the people to defeat TB", aiming at the goal of "For public health, promote TB prevention and control and eliminate TB by 2030"; calling on organizations, unions, and people to actively participate in TB prevention activities in the community.
