Create a brand

Visiting the dried fruit processing facility in Minh Hop commune (Quy Hop), I really admire the will and aspiration of Mr. Nguyen Son Tin in developing the local economy. He used to work for a Korean company with a high salary, but he gave it up to return to his hometown to start a business with dried fruit products.

Mr. Tin said: Quy Hop is a famous fruit growing area, especially Vinh oranges. However, during the harvest season, there is often a paradox of "good harvest, low price, good price, bad harvest". Therefore, I chose to start a business by purchasing and processing dried fruits, helping local agricultural products have more consumption channels, increasing the value of agricultural products, helping farmers feel secure in production.

From that startup idea, in 2021, Mr. Nguyen Son Tin invested billions of VND to build a factory and equip a line of machinery to put into operation. In 2021 alone, Mr. Tin's Hasafood Nghe An Joint Stock Company purchased 60 tons of fresh oranges, processed them into dried and freeze-dried orange slices; 40 tons of fresh jackfruit into crispy jackfruit products; 60 tons of bananas into crispy banana products, freeze-dried bananas; dozens of tons of pineapples and is currently processing matcha green tea powder products... These products are widely consumed across the country, distributed in many modern retail stores and supermarkets, creating jobs and income for nearly 30 local workers.

In particular, thanks to being introduced and promoted on the Website, Fanpage, and other e-commerce platforms, dried fruit products are widely known to consumers. Currently, the company's 4 products including: Dried jackfruit, dried banana, matcha green tea powder... have achieved 3 OCOP stars in 2021. According to Mr. Tin, the goal in 2022 is to improve OCOP products, develop an export plan to markets in China, Laos, Cambodia...

In addition to OCOP products from dried fruits, Quy Hop district is also quite famous for locally produced medicinal products. Mr. La Van Duy - Director of Tinh Sang Duong Agricultural Cooperative, Yen Hop commune (Quy Hop) said: “Established in early 2022, the main activity of the cooperative is growing medicinal plants to process into finished products to supply to the market. All members have land to grow medicinal herbs on a large scale, and at the same time have contracts to purchase raw materials with local people.

Currently, the Cooperative has more than 30 products processed from locally grown medicinal plants such as: Cold-dried pennywort powder, Solanum procumbens extract, Gymnema sylvestre extract, An Lac Mien extract, Khoi Binh Vi extract, Solanum procumbens tea bags... In which, Solanum procumbens tea bags, cold-dried pennywort powder, honey are participating in the provincial OCOP classification assessment.

Improving OCOP quality

After more than 2 years of implementation, the OCOP Program has received the support and active participation of Party committees, authorities at all levels, the entire political system and people in Quy Hop district. Communes and towns implementing the OCOP Program on different scales have built and developed many diverse types of products and goods, demonstrating the creativity of the people.

At the end of 2021, the entire district organized a district-level classification assessment to participate in the provincial-level classification assessment conference for 7 products that met the "3-star" standard, including: Song Dinh green tea, Vinh Tan Thanh orange, Nghe HT01 tangerine (Jeju tangerine), matcha tea powder, crispy jackfruit, freeze-dried pink banana and crispy banana, Hong Luat chicken eggs and was recognized by the Provincial People's Committee as achieving "3 stars" for all 7 products. After awarding the decision and certificate to 7 products that met the "3-star" standard, the district organized the registration of brand development support and product development support for entities with products that met the standards in 2021.

From the initial success, the Steering Committee for the implementation of the "One Commune One Product" Program of Quy Hop district has reviewed entities with products recognized by the province as "3 stars" or higher to support according to Resolution No. 25/2020/NQ-HDND of the Provincial People's Council on support policies for the implementation of the "One Commune One Product" Program in the province for the period 2021 - 2025. The OCOP Steering Committee of the district has selected Hasafood Nghe An Joint Stock Company in Minh Hoa hamlet, Minh Hop commune, which has 3 products recognized as "3 stars" at the provincial level, to support the cost of purchasing machinery and equipment, transferring technology, and scientific and technical advances into OCOP products with a total support fund of 300 million VND.

In 2022, promoting the achieved results, the People's Committee of Quy Hop district focuses on directing communes and towns to review and register potential products to focus on directing the development of OCOP products from the beginning of the year.

Currently, the District People's Committee has conducted a classification assessment to select potential products of the district and participated in the provincial classification assessment for 8 products achieving "3 stars" (including Solanum procumbens tea bags, freeze-dried pennywort powder, honey of Tinh Sang Duong Agricultural Cooperative, Yen Hop commune; Sinh Nhan clean oranges of Sinh Nhan Cooperative, Nghia Xuan commune; Luat Hong chicken of the Town Agricultural Service Cooperative; handicraft wooden paintings of Tran Ngoc Huy business household, Tho Hop commune; dried pineapple and dried squash products of Hasafood Nghe An Joint Stock Company) and 1 product upgraded to 4 stars (crispy dried jackfruit products of Hasafood Nghe An Joint Stock Company). These are expected to be breakthrough products for Quy Hop district in the coming time.

Mr. Quan Vi Giang - Vice Chairman of Quy Hop District People's Committee said: "The program "One Commune One Product" is identified as a solution to promote rural and local economic development and has achieved outstanding results. In the coming time, the district will continue to promote training and propaganda, gradually enhance product brands and OCOP potential; develop OCOP products associated with the construction of agricultural raw material areas, towards organic production, ensuring food safety; assign the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to advise the District People's Committee to integrate funding sources from different project programs, especially funding sources from the National Target Program on New Rural Development to support the subjects, the support content will focus on the content of applying scientific and technical advances in production, supporting investment in production equipment, building and promoting product brands...".
