Hip replacement surgery at Military Hospital 4.
(Baonghean) - Hip replacement surgery has been performed since 2010 at Military Hospital 4, Logistics Department, Military Region 4. Since then, more than 200 cases have been surgically treated, including many difficult and complex cases that previously had to be performed at higher-level hospitals.
Currently, hip replacement surgery at Military Hospital 4 has become routine, along with arthroscopic knee ligament reconstruction, spinal trauma surgery such as fractures and vertebral collapse, and herniated disc treatment... This has established the hospital's reputation and brand.
Alongside the development of new techniques, there is an exchange, learning, and transfer of technology between higher and lower-level healthcare facilities, as well as advanced training courses for doctors to update their knowledge.
Accordingly, the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology at Military Hospital 4 regularly holds consultations and exchanges experiences with higher-level hospitals such as Military Hospitals 108, 103, and Viet Duc Hospital.

With the goal of "All for patient satisfaction," on May 19, 2018, the Orthopedic Trauma Department (Military Hospital 4) collaborated with doctors from the Orthopedic Trauma Institute of Viet Duc Hospital (Hanoi) to perform hip replacement surgery on patient Dam Xuan Hang, born in 1955, residing in Hung Binh Ward, Vinh City, Nghe An Province. The patient was diagnosed with avascular necrosis of the right femoral head in a dislocated hip and acetabular fracture that had undergone unsuccessful acetabular fixation surgery seven months prior. This was a relatively difficult case, but the doctors of the Orthopedic Trauma Department (Military Hospital 4) were still able to perform the surgery as part of a routine procedure.

It is understood that, in response to the patient's earnest wish to have surgery performed by doctors from higher-level hospitals at the Orthopedic Trauma Department (Military Hospital 4) with the aim of providing the patient with the best, most convenient medical care and access to the most advanced techniques, the doctors from the Orthopedic Trauma Departments of both hospitals successfully performed the surgery.

Currently, the patient can walk independently, experiences minimal pain, and the surgical wound is healing well; the initial results are very encouraging. To achieve such results, firstly, the surgeons have truly mastered the technique, many advances in treatment have been applied, the nursing team has guided the patient through proper exercises, and secondly, changes in administrative procedures towards a "faster, more professional" approach have minimized inconvenience and shortened the treatment time for the patient.
This is a new feature, a new direction in patient care at the Orthopedics and Traumatology Department, Military Hospital 4, Military Region 4.
