According to RIA Novosti on December 11, Anas al-Abda, a member of the political body of the National Coalition of Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces (NCORS), told RIA Novosti that Syria has no intention of engaging in hostilities with its neighbors, and therefore, Israeli attacks on the country are unfounded.
The Nikors are an alliance of opposition groups to former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and are closely linked to the Free Syrian Army. Representatives of the Nikors have repeatedly participated in negotiations with Syrian authorities within the framework of the Astana process.
"Israel's latest actions against Syria are reprehensible," al-Abda said, emphasizing that the Israeli attacks were unfounded.
On December 9th, Israeli aircraft carried out major attacks on military targets across Syria, targeting the port of Latakia, military bases in the Damascus and Homs provinces, and research centers and factories belonging to the Ministry of Defense. Additionally, according to the Syrian newspaper Al-Watan, on the night of the same day, Israeli forces occupied the Syrian province of Quneitra on the Syrian Golan Heights, consolidating positions 50 km from Damascus.
The politician noted: “There is a clear message from all sides of the Syrian people that the main objective is to focus on Syria. They have no intention of engaging in hostile activities with neighboring countries or actually participating in the war.”
Syrian newspaper Al-Watan reported that armed opposition forces have seized control of Deir ez-Zor, the largest city in northeastern Syria and a major transportation hub.
