Russia claims to have detected and destroyed up to 25 drones in Syria.

Accordingly, the downing of the drone heading towards Russia's Hmeymim air base on August 11th was the fourth time in just three days that Russia had shot down a drone in Syria.

Earlier, on August 10, the Russian military also shot down two "small airborne targets" originating from the northern area controlled by Syrian rebels. On August 9, another airborne target was shot down while en route to the Hmeymim base.

Shooting down drones has become a regular practice for Russian forces stationed in Syria's Latakia province. Over the past month, at least 25 drones, along with reconnaissance equipment carrying various explosives, have deliberately violated the airspace of the Hmeymim base.

For a long time, the Russian military and the Syrian government have maintained the existence of terrorist fighters and opposition armed groups in Syria, even within areas controlled by the US. Meanwhile, areas liberated by the Syrian army are gradually recovering and participating in national reconciliation efforts across the country.
