To celebrate the 81st anniversary of the traditional day of the People's Public Security Force, the television series "CM12 Plan," produced by the People's Public Security Film Studio, will begin airing at 9:10 PM on August 22nd on ANTV channel and from the evening of August 24th on HTV9 channel.

"Operation CM12" was a prime example of counter-intelligence warfare against the exiled reactionary organization "United Front of Patriotic Forces for the Liberation of Vietnam," led by Le Quoc Tuy and Mai Van Hanh. The operation lasted for eight years (1980-1988), spanning several provinces in the Southwestern region of Vietnam, with a focus on Ca Mau province between 1981 and 1984.

The victory of Plan CM12 was one of the best, largest, and safest battles since the complete liberation of South Vietnam; it was a victory of the intelligence, courage, and extraordinary creativity of the People's Public Security forces, with the People's Security forces playing the leading role.

The television series "CM12 Plan," produced by directors Pham Trung Hieu and Tran Duy Linh, is inspired by the book "CM12 – Behind the Counter-Intelligence Plan" by Major General Nguyen Khac Duc, former Director of the Technical and Operational Department 1, General Department of Security (formerly), Ministry of Public Security. The book, first published in 2020, was reprinted by the Public Security Publishing House in February 2026 and is currently receiving widespread acclaim from readers.

Lieutenant Colonel Tran Nam Chung, Director of the Public Security Film Department and film producer, stated: The film "Plan CM12" focuses on previously unreleased details and dramatic, "non-violent" battles of wits between Vietnamese security forces and exiled reactionary organizations. The film's setting spans not only Ca Mau province but also many other provinces and cities in Vietnam and abroad.

The television series "CM12 Plan" not only recreates the victory of our army and people in terms of professional skills but also serves as an epic about the intelligence, the people's spirit, and the resilience of Vietnam. The work honors the close bond between the police force and the people in the cause of protecting national sovereignty. At the same time, the film emphasizes the humanistic element: reforming those who have gone astray, opening the way back to the right path, and warning against the illusions of subversive activities through violence.

Film director Pham Trung Hieu said that during the filming of "Operation CM12," the difficulty for the production team was not the large-scale scenes of capture and combat, but rather portraying the psychological and emotional development of the characters.

“The film crew received absolute support from units of the Ministry of Public Security in recreating many scenes, so we believe we will create the best visual effects for the audience. The most important thing in this case is that the real characters all have very special ‘identities.’ They are our security officers who infiltrated reactionary organizations, despite suspicion from their families, neighbors, and even colleagues. These are individuals who, after being arrested, were rehabilitated by the police force to participate in the ‘operational game’ set up by the special task force, luring them into 18 infiltration attempts into the country, arresting hundreds of suspects, and seizing hundreds of tons of weapons and counterfeit money. Clearly portraying these psychological developments is the decisive factor in the film's success,” director Trung Hieu shared.

The film was produced by the Public Security Film Studio (under the Public Security Communication Department, Ministry of Public Security), with the support of the Vietnam Agricultural and Rural Development Bank (Agribank). The film's content was directed by Lieutenant General Do Trieu Phong - Director of the Public Security Communication Department.

The television series "CM12 Plan" consists of 16 episodes, each 30 minutes long. The series will air at 9:10 PM every Saturday and Sunday on ANTV, starting August 22, 2026, to celebrate the 81st anniversary of the People's Public Security Force (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2026). Afterwards, it will continue airing at 10:00 PM every Monday and Tuesday on HTV9, starting August 24, 2026.
