According to a quick report from the People's Committee of Ky Son district, from 11pm last night (October 1), floodwaters from Tay Son commune along Huoi Giang stream poured into Muong Xen town area. At around 5am on October 2, the water started pouring in strongly, with the phenomenon of cars and houses being swept away. The peak was around 10am, when floodwaters separated the Hoa Son and Son Ha villages (Ta Ca commune) and block 1 of Muong Xen town. Realizing that flash floods could cause serious consequences, the leaders of Ky Son district directed localities to:evacuate people.

Data updated to 6pm today (October 2nd) shows that the flash flood from early this morning has caused 14 houses to be completely washed away, 100 houses to be severely flooded, 19 houses to be eroded, 2 cars to be swept away, 10 cars to be submerged in mud. The Muong Xen - Tay Son route has 4 severely damaged points that are impassable. National Highway 7 has 10 severely eroded points. The flash flood also caused a 4-month-old baby in Son Ha village to be swept away by water.

In the immediate future, the People's Committee of Ky Son district has promptly provided 150 gifts and related necessities to the people of Hoa Son and Son Ha villages (Ta Ca commune). Also this afternoon, the government and people of Tuong Duong district have directly provided 100 million VND to Ky Son district to overcome the consequences of flash floods. Currently, in the two villages of Hoa Son and Ta Ca commune, there are still more than 230 isolated households.

Comrade Vi Hoe - Secretary of Ky Son District Party Committee informed: Currently, the district has promptly mobilized local forces to overcome the immediate consequences. However, due to the great damage caused by flash floods, cutting off many roads, Ky Son district is in dire need of support in terms of human and material resources to help people overcome the consequences of flash floods, especially cleaning up the environment after the flood.

In the immediate future, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nghia Hieu has assigned the task to the Provincial Military Command, the Provincial Border Guard Command and the Provincial Police to mobilize about 300 officers and soldiers to urgently arrive in Ky Son to support the locality in evacuating people and cleaning up after the flood.
