(Baonghean.vn) - Inspecting the subsidence point on Le Viet Thuat street, Comrade Huynh Thanh Dien requested Vinh city to mobilize forces to quickly fix the problem.

Following the heavy rain from the night of December 7th to 8th, which caused widespread flooding in Vinh City, a subsidence occurred at the intersection of Le Viet Thuat and Nguyen Sy Sach streets. After the incident, Vinh City Police deployed forces to manage traffic flow, and relevant authorities proceeded with remediation efforts.

On the afternoon of December 8th, upon arriving at the scene, Comrade Huynh Thanh Dien requested Vinh City to direct relevant units to concentrate machinery and equipment, inspect the extent of subsidence, and coordinate with the Department of Transport to find technical solutions for quick handling, restoring the road surface for public use as soon as possible.

Comrade Huynh Thanh Dien requested the Vinh Urban Infrastructure Management and Development Joint Stock Company to inspect drainage points and find solutions to clear blockages caused by waste, which reduces water flow, in order to quickly drain water from roads in Vinh City.

The working group continued to inspect the drainage situation at the Cua Nam regulating lake drainage culvert, the boat drainage culvert from Vinh market to Vinh river, and the Ben Thuy weir.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Huynh Thanh Dien instructed the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Vinh City People's Committee to focus on clearing waterways and removing barriers to allow water to drain quickly.

In addition, at the sluice gate, the Vinh City People's Committee needs to coordinate with the Nam Nghe An Irrigation Company Limited to install a drainage pump system when the weather becomes complicated and heavy rain continues for an extended period.

At the Cau Den and Cau Tri pumping stations, Comrade Huynh Thanh Dien requested relevant departments and agencies to constantly monitor the weather situation to have timely water pumping plans; mobilize forces to be on duty 24/7 and increase pumping capacity to avoid flooding in Vinh City.

According to a quick report from the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Nghe An province, as of 13:00 on December 8, 2018, heavy rains have affected 1,419.2 hectares.Corn and various types of vegetables were flooded, including 308.5 hectares in Nam Dan district and 1,000 hectares in Nghi Loc district; 110.7 hectares in Vinh City; 5 hectares of ornamental plants were flooded (Vinh City); 229.4 hectares of ponds and lakes were flooded (Vinh City: 95.9 hectares; Nam Dan: 133.5 hectares).

The road system in Vinh City was flooded with water levels ranging from 20 to 50 cm; many roads were flooded to a depth of over 70 cm, such as Dang Thai Than, Nguyen Son, Nguyen Viet Nhung, Phan Chu Trinh, and Nguyen Thai Hoc streets. 31 meters of irrigation canals in Nghi Lien commune, Vinh City, were damaged.
