Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Huynh Thanh Dien directed flood relief in Vinh city
(Baonghean.vn) - Checking the subsidence point on Le Viet Thuat Street, comrade Huynh Thanh Dien requested Vinh city to mobilize forces to quickly fix the problem.
After the rain that lasted from the night of December 7 to December 8, Vinh City was flooded in many places, at the intersection of Le Viet Thuat and Nguyen Sy Sach streets, subsidence appeared. After the incident, Vinh City Police sent forces to regulate traffic, and functional units proceeded to handle and fix the problem.
On the afternoon of December 8, at the scene, comrade Huynh Thanh Dien requested Vinh City to direct functional units to concentrate machinery and equipment, check the level of subsidence and coordinate with the Department of Transport to have technical solutions to handle the situation quickly, soon returning the roadway to people's travel.

The working group continued to inspect the drainage situation at the Cua Nam regulating lake drainage area, the boat drainage culvert from Vinh market to Vinh river and Ben Thuy Bara.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Huynh Thanh Dien noted that the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and Vinh City People's Committee should focus on clearing the flow and opening the barriers to drain the water soon.
In addition, at the navigation sluice, Vinh City People's Committee needs to coordinate with Nam Nghe An Irrigation Company Limited to install a drainage pump system when the weather becomes complicated and the rain continues with heavy rainfall.

At Cau Den and Cau Tri pumping stations, comrade Huynh Thanh Dien requested relevant departments and branches to always closely monitor the weather situation to have timely water pumping plans; mobilize forces to be on duty 24/24 hours and increase pumping capacity to avoid flooding in Vinh City.
According to a quick report from the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Nghe An province as of 1:00 p.m. on December 8, 2018, heavy rain has damaged 1,419.2 hectares of land.Corn, vegetables of all kinds were flooded, of which Nam Dan district had 308.5 hectares and Nghi Loc district had 1,000 hectares; Vinh city had 110.7 hectares; Ornamental plants were flooded 5 hectares (Vinh city); 229.4 hectares of ponds and lakes were flooded (Vinh city: 95.9 hectares; Nam Dan: 133.5 hectares).
The traffic system in Vinh City was flooded from 20 - 50 cm; many roads were flooded over 70 cm deep such as: Dang Thai Than, Nguyen Son, Nguyen Viet Nhung, Phan Chu Trinh, Nguyen Thai Hoc... 31m of canal in Nghi Lien commune, Vinh city was damaged.
