Hanoi Old Quarter: A guide to visiting 4 paid historical sites.
From December 8th, Bach Ma Temple (76 Hang Buom Street) and Kim Ngan Temple (42-44 Hang Bac Street) will charge 20,000 VND per person. Quan De Temple and the Old Quarter Cultural Exchange Center will apply the same price from January 1st, 2026; with weekend evening hours.
From December 8th, two historical sites in Hanoi's Old Quarter, Bach Ma Temple (76 Hang Buom Street) and Kim Ngan Pagoda (42-44 Hang Bac Street), began selling entrance tickets for 20,000 VND per person. Quan De Temple (28 Hang Buom Street) and the Old Quarter Cultural Exchange Center (50 Dao Duy Tu Street) will start charging fees from January 1st, 2026. According to the Hoan Kiem Lake and Old Quarter Management Board, the fee collection is in accordance with Resolution 66 issued on November 27th by the Hanoi People's Council.

Free tickets and discounts
- Free admission for: severely disabled individuals; children under 16 years of age. For children without proof of age, admission is free based on height under 1.3 meters.
- 50% discount on tickets: students aged 16 and above; senior citizens (60 years and older); people with meritorious service to the revolution; people eligible for social welfare policies; lonely elderly people; people in remote, mountainous, and particularly disadvantaged areas.

- Open every day of the week: 8:00-12:00; 13:30-17:30.
- On the three weekend days (Friday, Saturday, Sunday): an additional evening session is open from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

The Bach Ma Temple is one of the four guardian temples of Thang Long, dedicated to the god Long Do, and was built in the 9th century. The Kim Ngan communal house, dedicated to the ancestor of all crafts, is one of the oldest and most impressive communal houses still preserved in Hanoi's Old Quarter.
The Bach Ma Temple (at the intersection of Hang Buom and Hang Giay streets) is also a venue for performances of traditional music forms such as xam, ca tru, and chau van.

Why charge a fee?
According to the Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi Old Quarter Management Board, revenue from ticket sales will be deposited into the state budget to support the management, restoration, and promotion of the value of historical relics in the Old Quarter area.
