Associate Professor Cao Truong Sinh and his outstanding contributions to the field of healthcare.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cao Truong Sinh, Specialist in Internal Medicine.

He was born in 1963 in Dien Hanh commune, Dien Chau district. In 1988, after graduating from Thai Binh Medical University, he was offered a teaching position. However, wanting to contribute to his hometown, he returned to work at Nghe An Pediatric Hospital. Later, he worked at the Provincial Friendship General Hospital. Currently, he is the Vice Rector of Vinh Medical University and Director of Vinh Medical University Hospital. He is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam National Cardiology Association, a member of the Southeast Asian Society of Cardiology (FASCC), the American Heart Association (FACC), and a member of the World Hypertension Society...

Upon returning to his hometown of Nghe An to work and teach, Dr. Cao Truong Sinh determined that he must strive to build a scientific research movement at the Nghe An Medical College (now Vinh Medical University) in order to improve the quality of education and training at the school.

He and his colleagues gradually developed and perfected the curricula for various subjects, publishing research topics to serve both theoretical and clinical teaching for students. One of the outstanding projects was the development of 80 sets of textbooks and 80 sets of objective multiple-choice questions for university-level teaching subjects, and the implementation of computer-based objective testing for assessment. This helped departments and lecturers have a complete set of textbooks for teaching and assessment, reducing thousands of hours of exam supervision, grading, and exam paper. This project was effectively implemented in teaching, saving the state approximately 500-600 million VND per year.

Associate Professor, Doctor Cao Truong Sinh shared his experience with doctors, medical students, and other medical staff at Vinh University Medical Center.

In addition, he also led a basic-level research project on investigating the employment rate of graduates after graduation as a basis for evaluating the quality of training and developing annual training plans. Through research projects in pedagogy and medical education, he guided colleagues in implementing many projects in this research direction, creating a research movement and research products that contributed to improving the quality and development of the school.

In addition to conducting scientific research in the field of education and training, Dr. Cao Truong Sinh has written and compiled many monographs and textbooks for teaching at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing education levels for doctors in hospitals, such as: 24-Hour Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring Techniques - From Principles to Practice; Basic Electrocardiography; and Neurology textbooks, published by reputable publishers…

Over the years, he has led the implementation of 6 projects with many provincial-level initiatives and numerous grassroots-level projects of scientific value and practical significance: Research proposing solutions for preventing and treating autism in children under 6 years old in Nghe An; Some solutions for early detection and treatment of autism spectrum disorder in children in Nghe An. The results of the project are currently being applied at Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, as well as in 7 districts and cities in the province, and are being replicated nationwide…

The research findings also provide an important basis for preschools and primary schools to detect autism early, enabling them to develop appropriate educational methods and collaborate with parents and the health sector to educate, rehabilitate, and reintegrate children into the community. This autism treatment method and model is currently being effectively applied at Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital.

This special project also contributed to training over 400 preschool teachers, developing models and applying educational methods to change the behavior of autistic children; providing training for medical staff in district hospitals, 185 medical students, 150 preschool education students, and especially treating 229 autistic children. These two projects won first prize at the Nghe An Science and Technology Innovation Competition in 2017.

Associate Professor, Doctor of Medicine Cao Truong Sinh attended the 16th National Cardiology Conference (November 2019).

In addition, he conducted several research projects such as: "The current situation and some solutions for preventing and treating osteoporosis in people over 40 years old in Vinh City, Nghe An Province." The project's results included screening and measuring bone density for 2,065 people and determined that the osteoporosis rate among people over 40 years old in Vinh City was 39.6%. It also proposed and implemented measures to prevent osteoporosis and treat 60 people with severe osteoporosis, reducing the rate of fractures due to osteoporosis in people over 40 years old, especially women.

This research topic is currently being applied at Vinh University Medical Center Hospital. In addition, several other highly applicable scientific research topics include: The current state of hypertension in Vinh City, Nghe An province; Research on the treatment of knee osteoarthritis using platelet-rich plasma combined with autologous adipose tissue-derived mesenchymal stem cell transplantation in Nghe An... These topics have been approved by the Ministry of Health and are being effectively implemented at Vinh University Medical Center Hospital with 30 osteoarthritis patients.

This initiative, implemented since 2009, is currently proving effective in the Neurology Department of Nghe An Friendship General Hospital, Vinh Medical University, and the Neurology and Cardiology departments of many hospitals nationwide. It won second prize in the 2015 Provincial Science and Technology Innovation Competition and was awarded the Creative Labor Certificate by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.

Vinh University Medical Center is implementing autologous mesenchymal stem cell transplantation techniques to treat osteoarthritis of the knee.

Dr. Cao Truong Sinh's scientific activities in the fields of education and training, medicine, and medical examination and treatment have contributed to promoting the scientific research movement at Vinh University Medical School and Hospital, contributing to the overall development of the health sector in general, and to the training of medical personnel in Nghe An province in particular.

With outstanding achievements in research, teaching, and many other fields, Associate Professor, Doctor of Science, Specialist Level II, was honored as one of the exemplary individuals recognized at the Nghe An Provincial Patriotic Emulation Congress for the period 2015-2020.
