Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov just made a surprising statement on Russia-24 TV channel about the fate of the Su-57 fighter.

According to Mr. Yuri Borisov, in the near future the Russian aerospace force will not order more fifth-generation fighter Su-57.

Russia previously signed a contract to purchase 12 of these fighters and is expected to fully deliver them to the Russian Air Force (VKS) before 2027.

The Su-57 fifth-generation fighter is equipped with modern technology and high-precision weapon systems, and is considered one of the most powerful fighters in the world today.

However, the Russian Procuracy currently does not need a large number of this type. One of the reasons for this decision is to reduce the financial burden on Russia's military programs, Mr. Borisov said.

The Russian Deputy Prime Minister said: "We currently have Su-35 fighters, which are also considered one of the best aircraft in the world, so we are not obliged to mass produce this fifth-generation fighter.

The Su-35 fighter, along with other aircraft, is capable of competing with current potential rivals."

He further analyzed that, in addition to financial issues, mass production of Su-57s will cause Russia to lack pilots. The Su-57 fighter jet still has many secrets that have not been revealed, so training pilots to operate them takes time.

Not only that, equipping many of these types of aircraft in many units in the armed forces will require more infrastructure, security forces, and aircraft maintenance in the units.

To carry out flights, Su-57s need to undergo very careful technical checks. This responsibility lies with the technical departments of the air bases. They need to prepare them for flights, carry out routine maintenance and perform other necessary work.

These forces cannot be met in a short time, they need to be researched and trained in detail and specifically. Therefore, from now until 2027, the Russian Air Force will only receive and master 12 of these new generation fighters.

And no decision has been made by the Russian Defense Ministry to mass produce Su-57 fighters, the Deputy Minister said. Regarding the production of this fighter for export, he affirmed that the capabilities of the Su-57 have been confirmed.

It doesn’t matter if it is exported sooner or later, if it is quickly popularized in the world, potential competitors will find every way to “sink” it. Even if Russia does not export this fighter, competitors will find every way to discredit the Su-57.
