Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam attended the opening ceremony of the National Phu Dong Sports Festival.
(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of August 1st, a delegation from the Central Government, led by Comrade Vu Duc Dam - Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Deputy Prime Minister, attended the opening ceremony of the 9th National Phu Dong Sports Festival held in Nghe An.
Accompanying the delegation was Comrade Phung Xuan Nha - Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Minister of Education and Training. Welcoming the delegation on behalf of Nghe An province were Comrades Nguyen Dac Vinh - Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; and Nguyen Thi Kim Chi - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of the Department of Education and Training.

The 9th National Phu Dong Sports Festival in 2016 saw the participation of 63 units nationwide and was divided into two phases. Phase 1 was held in five regions: Phu Tho, Thanh Hoa, Nam Dinh, Binh Duong, and Can Tho, with 8175 athletes competing in 12 sports.
Phase 2 was held in Nghe An and Thanh Hoa provinces from July 19th to August 10th, with over 6,000 athletes competing in 15 sports.
As part of his working visit to Nghe An province, tomorrow morning, August 2nd, Mr. Phung Xuan Nha, Minister of Education and Training, will hold a meeting with the Provincial People's Committee on education and training matters, visit Phan Boi Chau Specialized High School; and visit and work with Vinh University.
