The Government Office has just issued a document conveying the opinion of Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue - Head of the Steering Committee for Price Management.The Ministry of Industry and Trade is requested to coordinate with the General Statistics Office and relevant agencies to continue monitoring and assessing the impact of electricity price increases on production and people's lives.

The Ministry of Information and Communications is directed to proactively coordinate with other ministries and agencies to continue disseminating information and proactively providing the public with information on price management of sensitive commodities, and to ensure transparency in pricing information to control inflationary expectations.
The ministry was also instructed to strengthen inspections and supervision to prevent and limit the spread of false information that causes panic among consumers and destabilizes the market.
From March 20th, the average retail price of electricity increased by 8.36%. Nearly a month later, many people complained about their April electricity bills being unexpectedly high compared to March. The electricity sector explained this phenomenon by citing three reasons: hot weather, increased electricity consumption by households, and partly due to the increase in retail electricity prices.
On May 2nd, the Ministry of Industry and Trade announced the establishment of three inspection teams to visit electricity units in three regions (North, Central, and South) from May 8th to 10th. Mr. Hoang Quoc Vuong, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, stated that the ministry will soon propose amendments to the tiered electricity pricing system to better reflect actual usage needs.
Last weekend, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc directed the Government Inspectorate, in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Industry and Trade, to conduct an inspection of the electricity price increase, the pricing method, and the collection of electricity bills over the past period. This inspection aims to clarify the correctness or incorrectness of the electricity price adjustment.
