Outgoing US Vice President Joe Biden traveled by train from Washington to Delaware after President Donald Trump's inauguration.

Mr. Biden and his wife Jill Biden took their first train journey home yesterday.Wilmington received a ticket with his name on it, according to CNN.

The former vice president revealed he made 8,200 round-trip trips to his hometown during his time in office, butNames are not allowed on tickets for security reasons.

"Over two million miles, or more than 3.2 million kilometers, with Amtrak service. Each trip is 259 miles long, almost 417 kilometers per day, so I traveled about 217 days a year. This is my family, and that's why I chose my way home," Biden said.

When asked about the meaning of taking the train, Biden said that what he used to do was literally take the night train home, look out the window, see the lights, and think, "What's on the kitchen table? What are people thinking? What are they really worried about?"

Speaking to a CNN reporter who was traveling with him on the train,The former vice president said his last words to former President Barack Obama as he left the White House were, "See you again in a few weeks."

"I will do it," he said.

Speaking about scheduling meetings with Obama, Biden said they would meet very often, have many things to do together, and consider themselves close friends.
