Le Loi Polyclinic in Vinh City is accused of overcharging patients.
(Baonghean.vn) - Recently, Ms. NTL, 19 years old, residing in Do Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district, submitted a complaint to the Nghe An Department of Health regarding unreasonable medical examination and treatment costs and a lack of transparency in the operations of Le Loi Multi-Specialty Clinic.

According to Ms. NTL's complaint: At 9:00 AM on December 19, 2020, she arrived.ClinicLe Loi General Clinic, located at 99 Le Loi Street, Le Loi Ward, Vinh City (Nghe An Province)see the doctorHere, she received advice and underwent the necessary medical examination procedures, including tests and paraclinical examinations.
After examination, Ms. L was diagnosed with fungal vaginitis and cervical erosion (III), and was prescribed vaginal medication. Ms. NTL was then given vaginal medication by the staff here. The doctor prescribed a solution of 3 bottles: Metronidazole (2 bottles), Leybxan 100ml (2 bottles), and administered Fluconecl (1 bottle) and Tinidazole Injection (100ml:400mg, 2 bottles), along with HQ therapy for 50 minutes.
After that, the doctor scheduled Ms. NTL to return for follow-up examinations every 5 to 7 days. The total amount she had to pay for the examination and medication was 8,020,000 VND (including 6,200,000 VND for vaginal medication, 970,000 VND for intravenous medication, and 850,000 VND for the general examination including ultrasound and colposcopy...).
After paying, Ms. L went to her brother's house to rest and told him about the medical expenses. Her brother said the cost was unreasonable, so they returned to Le Loi Multi-Specialty Clinic to clarify the issue.

Ms. NTL and her brother went to the clinic to discuss the medications and costs directly with the doctor. There, they learned about the medications they had been taking. The doctor also stated that the cost of completely curing Ms. L's illness would be over 13 million VND.
After speaking with the relevant people, Ms. L and her brother left. When they went down to the basement to get their car, a clinic employee came down and invited them to come up for another meeting with the examining doctor and another clinic staff member.
Here, Ms. NTL was asked if she had any wishes or suggestions, and the clinic staff offered to refund 50% of the fees she had paid, but Ms. NTL disagreed, finding it unreasonable.
While getting her car to go home, Ms. NTL was again invited to return for a meeting with the doctor. During this meeting, the clinic representative agreed to return 6,200,000 VND to Ms. NTL, the amount she had paid for vaginal medication.
Because they had an urgent matter to attend to, Ms. NTL and Mr. Nghia arranged to meet with the clinic again at another time. As they were leaving in their car, an accountant from the clinic ran after Ms. NTL with money and offered it to her, but she refused. Subsequently, Ms. NTL filed a complaint with the Nghe An Department of Health requesting an investigation.

"For vaginal yeast infections, a course of medication for 3-5 days is usually sufficient. The treatment cost is less than 100,000 VND. However, if a yeast infection is diagnosed, treating it with a variety of antibiotics is illogical; theoretically, using too many antibiotics will worsen the fungal infection," added Dr. Nguyen Thai Dung.
Reportedly, the Nghe An Department of Health has received a complaint from Ms. NTL and assigned the Department's Inspectorate to coordinate with relevant agencies to clarify the matter...
