The Ha Tinh Department of Education and Training has issued a statement after 16 out of 22 candidates in the exam room scored 10 in Mathematics.

The Ha Tinh Department of Education and Training has responded to information circulating on social media alleging that in one examination room with 22 candidates, 16 students achieved a perfect score of 10 in Mathematics in the 2026 high school graduation exam. Furthermore, the remaining 6 exam papers all scored 9 points or higher, including 2 papers with 9 points, 2 papers with 9.5 points, and 2 papers with 9.75 points.

This information quickly attracted public attention. Many people considered it a rare occurrence and urged authorities to investigate and verify the matter.

Meanwhile, many also believe that this result accurately reflects the capabilities of students in Ha Tinh, a province that has consistently ranked among the top in the country for educational quality for many years.

According to the leaders of the Ha Tinh Department of Education and Training, after reviewing the case, the Department confirmed that the exam room in question had 22 candidates, 15 of whom scored 10 in Mathematics. The majority of the candidates in the room were students from the specialized Mathematics classes 1 and 2 of Ha Tinh High School for the Gifted.

"These are all students who are very strong in Mathematics, so such results are normal. Even without public opinion, after each exam, the Department still organizes an analysis of the score distribution for each subject, each school, and each class to assess the quality of teaching and learning," said a leader of the Ha Tinh Department of Education and Training.

According to him, this year Ha Tinh province has approximately 167 perfect scores (10 out of 10) in Mathematics, with Ha Tinh Specialized High School alone having 79 perfect scores.

Explaining why one exam room had as many as 16 perfect scores (10/10), the head of the Department said that according to the room assignment method of the Ministry of Education and Training's software, this room had 21 students from Ha Tinh Specialized High School.

"The software assigns registration numbers to each exam location and optimizes room assignments based on elective subjects so that candidates don't have to move between rooms. Therefore, many students with the same subject combination are assigned to the same room. Rooms with high-achieving students in science subjects are not unique to Ha Tinh but also appear in many other localities," the leader said.

Representatives from the Department of Education and Training also stated that this year's math exam was considered easier than last year's, so the increase in the number of perfect scores (10 points) is understandable.

According to the Department's leadership, Ha Tinh has consistently been among the localities with the highest high school graduation exam scores nationwide for many years. In 2025, the province ranked second nationally, and in 2026, it ranked fifth. For subject combinations A and natural sciences, Ha Tinh has always been among the leading provinces, and for many consecutive years, its students have won medals at national and international competitions. Therefore, the high scores achieved by students from Ha Tinh Specialized High School in Mathematics are not unusual.
