"Great Unity" Garden

For about the past two years, while traveling along National Highway 48 through Quy Chau district, specifically the section passing through Chau Hoi commune, we have often seen a fairly large area planted with many types of trees in neat rows. Among them, the most prominent are hundreds of tall, healthy, and thriving white bauhinia trees.

The Youth Union of Chau Hoi commune, along with officials from the Quy Chau District Agricultural Service Center, are pruning, weeding, and caring for the "people's garden." On a large area along the western slope of National Highway 48, in Ke Le village, Chau Hoi commune, hundreds of white bauhinia trees have begun to bloom.

Ms. Luong Thi Nga, Secretary of the Chau Hanh Commune Youth Union, said that out of hundreds of bauhinia trees planted here, the youth union members of Chau Hanh commune contributed to planting 70 trees. In addition, the commune's youth force has also participated in dozens of man-days of planting and caring for the trees regularly from the beginning of the tree planting campaign until now. Planting started in early 2021, when the trees were only about two handspans tall, they have now grown taller than a person's head, and some have begun to bloom.

Along with the Youth Union of Chau Hanh commune, to create the vast area with thousands of trees as it is today, one of the agencies and units that contributed money to buy trees and labor to care for them is the Education sector of Quy Chau district.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Chau, Head of the Education Department of Quy Chau district, teachers from various schools have jointly contributed 120 million VND to purchase, plant, and care for 350 white bauhinia trees at the Ke Le Ecological Area.

According to Mr. Luong Tri Dung, Head of the Agriculture and Rural Development Department of the Quy Chau District People's Committee, in 2020, Quy Chau district implemented a plan to plant native trees in conjunction with the eco-tourism area in Chau Hoi commune, Quy Chau district. The District People's Committee, in coordination with the District Fatherland Front Committee, organized a tree planting launch ceremony at the model site and mobilized organizations, individuals, and businesses in the district to support this movement.

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has coordinated with relevant departments, agencies, and units to implement the campaign, and to date has received very positive support and response from all levels of government, people, and businesses in the district. Following the launch of the solidarity tree planting campaign, the Fatherland Front Committees at all levels in Quy Chau district have contributed funds to purchase and plant 97 Săng Lẻ trees, 100 Lát trees, and 94 Sấu trees.

Since the launch of the solidarity tree planting movement in 2020, by the end of 2021, the total area of ​​trees planted in Ke Le Ecological Park reached 8.2 hectares, thanks to direct in-kind donations from departments, agencies, units, individuals, and businesses in the district.

Among them are many valuable tree species such as 1 hectare of green lim trees with 500 trees; 1.2 hectares of lat hoa trees with 500 trees. Many other tree species are also planted on areas of 1-2 hectares such as hoàng linh, giáng hương, săng lẻ, lộc mưng, bằng lăng đào, chò chỉ, sấu, hồng tha…

Since 2022, an additional 11 hectares have been planted, including nearly 1,000 crape myrtle and rose bushes. Many of the planted trees have reached diameters of 17cm - 35cm (464 trees/1.7 ha), such as the sandalwood and several other species.

In addition to planting ornamental trees, flowering trees, and shade trees, the Ke Le Community Ecological Park also incorporates a pilot project of planting 3.5 hectares of fragrant root trees and 5 hectares of cinnamon, undertaken by the District Agricultural Services Center.

The state and the people work together to protect and plant forests.

According to Mr. Lo Van The, Head of the Economic and Infrastructure Department of the Quy Chau District People's Committee, in August 2022, the Provincial People's Committee issued Decision 2492/QD-UBND approving the survey and planning of the Ke Le Ecological Park in Chau Hoi commune. Currently, the district is preparing a land clearance plan to submit to the Provincial People's Committee. The project is invested by the District People's Committee, with the aim of planning an ecological area to serve the community and create a highlight in infrastructure associated with the cultural and tourism development of Quy Chau. The Ke Le Ecological Park covers an area of ​​300 hectares along National Highway 48, bordering Chau Hoi commune, Tan Lac town, and the Hieu River.

According to statistics from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quy Chau district, after two years of launching the solidarity tree planting campaign, many organizations and individuals have responded very actively, such as educational institutions, the Chau Hanh Commune Youth Union, the Culture Department, the District Police, the District Health Center, Hoang Anh Cooperative, Phuc Thinh Phat Cooperative, Dieu Chau Enterprise, Quoc Anh Company, Thuan Duc Company, and individuals such as Mr. Le Van Tu, Mr. Nguyen Duy Nhan, etc.

The leaders of Quy Chau district also affirmed that the district plans to build the Ke Le Ecological Park with the goal of serving the people. The project's components will aim to create a cultural space and preserve the natural values ​​of Quy Chau; serving the development of community tourism and ecotourism. Furthermore, the joint efforts of the government and people in building this project also aim to spread awareness of protecting nature, preserving forests, and planting trees within the community of Quy Chau.
