Women of Nghe An: Practical actions taken in preparation for the Congress.

Amidst the scorching early summer sun, in Trai Da village, Quynh Anh commune, the sounds of mixing mortar and people calling out to each other as they move bricks make the small courtyard in front of Mrs. Tran Thi My's old house more bustling than usual.

For many years, this visually impaired woman has lived with her child in a cramped, severely dilapidated house, each rainy season adding to her anxiety. Raising her child alone while suffering from poor health and frequent illnesses, she never dared to imagine the day she would live in a sturdy house. However, thanks to the joint efforts of local officials, women's association members, and generous donors, that seemingly distant dream is gradually becoming a reality.

30 million VND was raised by the Women's Union of Quynh Anh commune; 50 million VND from Venerable Thich Nguyen Quang - Abbot of Dong Yen Pagoda; 1,500 paving bricks provided by the Village Committee, along with contributions from relatives and friends in cash, building materials and labor, totaling nearly 200 million VND, were used to build a new home of approximately 40m².

At the groundbreaking ceremony, Ms. My shared that her simplest wish was just to have a place to shelter her and her daughter from the rain and sun. For this woman, the new house is not only a material asset but also a source of spiritual support to help her get through the difficult days ahead.

From the story of Ms. Tran Thi My, it can be seen that the projects celebrating the Congress are not far-fetched, but begin with listening to the hardships in the lives of members and women. This is also the spirit that is spreading in many localities in the province through different methods, but with the common goal of ensuring that no one is left behind.

In Do Luong commune, this spirit of sharing is conveyed through the "Godmother - Connecting Love" program. Visits, small gifts, and regular financial support have become invaluable sources of encouragement for orphaned children in particularly difficult circumstances. Recently, the Women's Union of the commune, in coordination with the Women's Association of Dai Dong Thinh Son hamlet, visited and presented a sponsorship package worth 10.6 million VND over three years to Dang Duc Tuan. The gift may not be large in material value, but it contains the affection of mothers who are not related by blood but share the same desire to help these children gain more confidence to continue their education.

What is commendable is that the program doesn't stop at just giving out gifts once and then closing. In response to the 2026-2031 period, the Women's Union of Do Luong commune has connected with and mobilized support for 70 orphaned children with a total committed amount of over 1 billion VND.

In Quy Hop commune, the "1+1 Digital Guide" model, with 26 members, was established as a concrete way to implement the "Digital Literacy Movement." Many people, especially older women, are still unfamiliar with smartphones and hesitant to use online administrative procedures. Therefore, the motto "those who know guide those who don't, those with more knowledge guide those with less" has proven effective from the very beginning of its implementation.

Members of the model receive training in skills for participating in a safe digital environment, identifying cyber risks, using essential applications, and accessing online public services. Each person directly assists at least 10 members or citizens in accessing basic digital skills. The image of association officials patiently sitting next to elderly women to guide them through each step of logging in, submitting online applications, or installing necessary applications shows that digital transformation is no longer solely the responsibility of state management agencies, but is reaching every village and hamlet through the closeness and responsibility of the association.

Along with digital transformation and social welfare, building a green, clean, and beautiful living environment has also been chosen by women's associations at all levels as a practical way to celebrate the Congress. In Thanh Luu hamlet, Tan Ky commune, the women's self-managed "Bright - Green - Clean - Beautiful" road has transformed the appearance of the residential area. The trees are regularly cared for, the alleys are swept clean, and the landscape is tidied up thanks to the self-awareness of the women's association members.

Alongside this, the "Green House - Small Packages of Love, Sharing with the Community" model has transformed seemingly worthless plastic bottles, scrap paper, and waste materials into a fund to support disadvantaged women and children.

Spreading the spirit of emulation and affirming the role of the association.

From the stories in the communes of Quynh Anh, Do Luong, Quy Hop, and Tan Ky, one can get a glimpse of the broader picture of the peak emulation campaign to welcome the 14th National Congress of the Vietnam Women's Union in Nghe An province. According to the report of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Women's Union, the entire province implemented 709 projects, tasks, and activities with a total value of over 17.9 billion VND. These included the construction of 14 shelters for the needy; the sponsorship of 1,109 children; livelihood support for 280 cases; the implementation of hundreds of models on digital transformation, environmental protection, and effective mass mobilization; and the distribution of thousands of humanitarian and charitable gifts to those in difficult circumstances.

It is noteworthy that the content of the emulation campaign is not scattered but closely follows the practical requirements of each locality. From digital transformation, cybersecurity, building "5 no's, 3 clean, 3 safe" families to supporting livelihoods, caring for vulnerable women and children..., all levels of the association have selected tasks that are appropriate to the needs of members and the people. As a result, the emulation campaign is no longer a temporary movement, but has become a driving force to promote innovation in the content and methods of the association's activities towards a more practical and effective direction.

Discussing the significance of the emulation campaign, Ms. Le Thi Kim Chung, Vice President of the Nghe An Provincial Women's Union, stated that the most important thing is not the number of projects or the material value achieved, but that each activity stems from real life and addresses the needs of members and the people. Through this campaign, the role of the Women's Union organization is further affirmed through concrete actions; the spirit of solidarity, creativity, and responsibility of cadres and members is strongly encouraged; thereby contributing to the local government's efforts in social welfare, building a safe, civilized, and developed community.

The 14th National Congress of Women's Representatives is a significant milestone, opening a new chapter for women's association work and the women's movement. However, the most beautiful impact of this emulation campaign lies not in the statistics of achievements, but in everyday life: the joy of visually impaired women soon having a sturdy roof over their heads before the rainy season; the less sorrowful eyes of orphaned children knowing they have someone to support them; the confidence of those using online public services for the first time; and the clean, beautiful rural roads meticulously cared for by the diligent hands of women.

Through practical actions, nurtured daily with responsibility, love, and perseverance, women in Nghe An are contributing to writing their own unique mark on the journey towards the Congress.
