On the morning of August 22nd, the Standing Committee of the Nghe An Provincial Women's Union, in coordination with the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Department, the Fatherland Front and other provincial-level organizations, and the Provincial Border Guard, organized activities under the theme "Accompanying Women in Border Areas" in Chau Khe commune, Con Cuong district.
Attending the event at the traditional venue in Chau Khe commune (Con Cuong district) were comrades: Ngoc Kim Nam - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Department and Nguyen Thi Quynh Hoa - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, President of the Provincial Women's Union; along with leaders of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee and other provincial-level organizations, the Provincial Border Guard Command and local authorities.

The main activity carried out this morning was organizing communication and awareness campaigns on gender equality and preventing child marriage for officials, members, and women from ethnic minority communities in Chau Khe commune.
One of the pressing social issues among ethnic minority women is gender inequality, child marriage, and consanguineous marriage. The consequences of this situation negatively impact women's opportunities for holistic development and the overall quality of the population in the region.
Through communication activities, information on policies and laws regarding gender equality, marriage, and family was conveyed to women; thereby raising awareness and compliance with laws on marriage and family and gender equality; contributing to reducing child marriage and consanguineous marriage, and improving the quality of life for people in general and women in particular. On this occasion, the Provincial Women's Union and other units also presented gifts to officers and soldiers of the Chau Khe Border Guard Station.

Along with organizing communication activities, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Women's Union also coordinated with the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Department and other provincial agencies and organizations to organize several activities to support women in border areas. Specifically, they donated a computer and printer to the Women's Union of Chau Khe commune; gave 50 gifts to poor women and children; and provided 5 "breeding cow" livelihood models to 5 poor female members.

Earlier, on August 21st, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Women's Union also organized a communication activity on gender equality, prevention of child marriage and consanguineous marriage for officials, members, and women of ethnic minorities in Tam Quang commune, Tuong Duong district.

In addition, on this occasion, the Provincial Border Guard Command also donated two water purification systems to the Women's Union of Chau Khe commune (Con Cuong district) and Tam Quang commune (Tuong Duong district).
The activities implemented in the two communes aim to concretize the plan for the "Accompanying Women in Border Areas" program for the 2021-2025 period of the Provincial Women's Union. Through these activities, the aim is to further promote and spread the program among all levels, sectors, and the community in general, and among Women's Union branches at all levels in the province in particular.

This has contributed to raising awareness and changing the mindset and practices of women, enabling them to assert themselves and make positive contributions to the socio-economic development of ethnic minority areas; and to protecting border security.
