Nghe An women organize activities 'Accompanying women in the border areas' in Con Cuong and Tuong Duong
(Baonghean.vn) - On August 21 and 22, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Women's Union coordinated with a number of provincial agencies to implement many activities for women in border areas under the program "Accompanying women in border areas".

On the morning of August 22, the Standing Committee of the Nghe An Provincial Women's Union coordinated with the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Committee, the Fatherland Front and provincial-level organizations, and the Provincial Border Guard to organize activities "Accompanying women in the border areas" in Chau Khe commune, Con Cuong district.
Attending the traditional point in Chau Khe commune (Con Cuong district) were comrades: Ngoc Kim Nam - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Commission and Nguyen Thi Quynh Hoa - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Chairwoman of the Provincial Women's Union; together with leaders of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee and provincial-level organizations, the Provincial Border Guard Command and localities.

The main activity carried out this morning was to organize communication and propaganda on gender equality and prevention of child marriage for cadres, members, and ethnic minority women in Chau Khe commune.
One of the pressing social issues among ethnic minority women is gender inequality, early marriage, and consanguineous marriage. The consequences of this situation are affecting women’s opportunities for comprehensive development and the quality of the region’s population in general.
Through communication activities, information on legal policies on gender equality, marriage and family has been conveyed to women; thereby raising awareness and compliance with the law on marriage and family, gender equality; contributing to reducing the situation of early marriage and incestuous marriage, improving the quality of life for people in general and women in particular. On this occasion, the Provincial Women's Union and units also presented gifts to officers and soldiers of Chau Khe Border Guard Station.

Along with organizing communication activities, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Women's Union also coordinated with the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Committee and provincial agencies and organizations to organize a number of activities to support women in the border areas. Specifically, it presented a set of computers and printers to the Chau Khe Commune Women's Union; presented 50 gifts to poor women and children; and presented 5 livelihood models of "breeding cows" to 5 poor women members.

Previously, on August 21, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Women's Union also organized communication activities on gender equality, prevention of child marriage and incestuous marriage for officials, members, and ethnic minority women in Tam Quang commune, Tuong Duong district.
The organization donated 1 set of computers and printers to the Tam Quang Commune Women's Union; presented gifts to 20 poor and disadvantaged families of members and women; presented 5 livelihood models of "breeding cows" to 5 poor households of members and women. On this occasion, the Provincial Women's Union and units also presented gifts to officers and soldiers of the Tam Quang Border Guard Station.

The total value of support in Chau Khe and Tam Quang communes is more than 170 million VND from direct contributions from cadres, members, and women in the province and from connecting and mobilizing other sources. In addition, on this occasion, the Provincial Border Guard Command also presented 2 sets of water filters to the Women's Union of Chau Khe commune (Con Cuong district) and Tam Quang commune (Tuong Duong district).
The activities carried out in the two communes aim to concretize the implementation plan of the program "Accompanying women in the border areas" for the period 2021-2025 of the Provincial Women's Union. Through the activities, the program will continue to be promoted and disseminated to all levels, sectors, social communities in general and Women's Unions in particular in the province.
