Tuong Son women do 'skillful mass mobilization'

(Baonghean.vn) - Thanks to good mass mobilization work, the Women's Union of Tuong Son commune (Anh Son) has successfully implemented club models, savings groups, and production development linkages, helping each other to eliminate hunger and reduce poverty.

The Women's Association of Village 11, Tuong Son Commune, with 2/3 of its members being Catholics, has a low rate of women joining the association every year. To attract members, the association's cadres always take the lead, actively participate in the activities of the village, go to each house, and encourage each woman to join the clubs "Happy family, living a good life and following religion"; "No third child or more", "Family of 5 no's and 3 clean's"...

Tuong Son Women's Union officials regularly visit parishioners' homes to visit and encourage them.

Currently, in the village association 11, there are always 3 loan groups, with 74 members participating, each member voluntarily saves 100,000 VND per month to help 3 women have more capital to develop the economy. When joining the association, women have access to capital, are transferred scientific and technical technology into production, and are helped with plants, seeds, and labor days. Up to now, the association has 86 members.

The cow farming model of Ms. Nguyen Thi Hang in village 10, Tuong Son commune brings high income.

Tuong Son Women's Union currently has 1,379 members, operating in 14 branches, of which 445 are lay members, accounting for 32%. To attract members, especially members from religious areas, the Commune Women's Union has "smartly mobilized the people" by building suitable models such as the cucumber growing model at branch 7, allowing income of 90-100 million VND/ha/cucumber crop; mobilizing 11 gai cake making establishments to expand their scale and regularly create jobs for 100-120 female workers in the area.

The farm model of Ms. Nguyen Thi Duc in village 10, Tuong Son commune brings in an income of over 100 million VND/year.

Thanks to that, the whole association now has over 20 models of lay members with incomes of 100 million VND or more. The rate of attracting members to participate in regular activities has increased from 81% in 2012 to 89% now, in which lay members participating in activities has increased from 60% to 66%. Ms. Nguyen Thi Van - President of the Women's Union of Tuong Son commune shared: "Each branch president is the leader, promoting her role in mass mobilization in the management and mobilization of members to participate. Any branch that is truly strong will be chosen as the foundation for other branches to learn and follow."
