Women in the coastal region of Nghe An province are fishing for the rare triggerfish during the fishing season.
(Baonghean.vn) - The triggerfish is a rare species that often appears in large numbers after storms and usually moves into rocky reefs along the coast. Seizing this opportunity, fishermen in the Quỳnh Lưu coastal area (Nghe An) bring their fishing gear out to sea to catch them, bringing in a considerable income.
Walking along the coastal dike to the rocky reef in Dai Bac village, Quynh Long commune, in recent days, groups of people have been gathering on the beach to fish for a rare type of fish that only appears during the rainy season.
At the reef, the "anglers" are mostly women, each holding a homemade bamboo fishing rod about 3-4 meters long and baskets tied around their waists to hold the fish.

Ms. Nguyen Thi My from Tien Thuy commune (Quynh Luu district) was thrilled when she caught a fish as soon as she cast her fishing rod into the sea.the catfishIt weighs 700 grams. She said: "After typhoon number 5 passed, from yesterday until today, people have been flocking to the rocky reef in Quynh Long commune to fish. A few people discovered this rare fish and spread the word, and today there must be more than 10 people fishing."
According to experienced anglers, to catch triggerfish, you first need to be a skilled fisherman; this particular type of fish must be caught close to the coral reefs because they move there to hide after rough seas. Patience is also required because some days the fish disperse to different locations and don't get caught.

The bait used for catching triggerfish is sea shrimp or prawns. On each fishing rod, people use a 3-5 meter long piece of fishing line to tie two hooks and a lead weight to create sinking pressure when the bait is dropped into the water.
According to fishermen, if they are lucky, they can catch 5-6 kg of triggerfish in a day; this fish is currently sold at 150,000 VND/kg, so each"angler"They earn nearly 1 million VND per day. Previously, some people caught over 10 kg, resulting in a substantial income.

In September and October, the triggerfish appear near the shore, so this is the fishing season.fishermenThe coastal area provides additional income from fishing. After the season ends, these anglers will move to other coastal areas to catch grouper, sea bass, snapper, and other similar fish.
