Restoring a centuries-old well in Nam Dan.
(Baonghean.vn) - The centuries-old Trot Quan well in Ngoc Dinh village, Kim Lien commune, Nam Dan district (Nghe An province) has been restored by the local people working together.
On the morning of March 21st, the People's Committee of Kim Lien commune, districtNam DanThe inauguration ceremony of the Trọt Quan well was held in Liên Sơn hamlet with the large participation of local people.
According to the elders, the Trọt Quan well in Ngọc Đình village, Liên Sơn hamlet, Kim Liên commune, is associated with the Đạt pagoda (Bảo Quang Tự) located on the summit of Động Sét mountain.

Located within the complex of the mountain range historical site.Chung MountainAt Dat Pagoda, there is a stone stele approximately 1.6m high and 0.9m wide, with a history dating back over 400 years, to the reign of King Le Than Tong in the Vinh To era of 1621.
From the center of Dat Pagoda, two ancient wells radiate in different directions: Trot Quan Well and Dinh Well (now Lien Hong hamlet), located approximately 500 meters from the pagoda as the crow flies. Both of these ancient wells are situated at the foot of the majestic Chung mountain range, where Dat Pagoda and the shrine of General Nguyen Dac Dai are located.
In the villagers' memories, the Trọt Quan well had clear, emerald-green water, surrounded by rows of banyan trees. Next to the well was an ancient shrine, with a banyan tree with six large branches growing beside it. However, in 2019, the Trọt Quan well was filled in.

The public responded enthusiastically, with individuals and businesses donating cash and in-kind contributions worth nearly 800 million VND.
The well at Trọt Quan, after restoration, maintains a water level of over 1 meter on normal days. The well extends more than 6 meters from the edge. Two dragons, each 217 cm long, face north. Seventeen lotus pedestals adorn the well's rim, including two large ones prominently placed at the well's pillars. The well has steps made of fired bricks leading down.
