Restoring a centuries-old well in Nam Dan
(Baonghean.vn) - The hundreds of years old Trot Quan Well in Ngoc Dinh village, Kim Lien commune, Nam Dan district (Nghe An) was restored by local people.
On the morning of March 21, the People's Committee of Kim Lien commune, districtNam Danheld the inauguration ceremony of Trot Quan well in Lien Son hamlet with the participation of many local people.
According to the elders, Trot Quan well, Ngoc Dinh village, Lien Son hamlet, Kim Lien commune, is associated with Dat pagoda (Bao Quang Tu) located on top of Dong Set mountain.

Located in the complex of Monuments of the mountain rangeChung Mountain, Dat Pagoda has a stone stele about 1.6m high and 0.9m wide, with a history dating back more than 400 years, during the reign of King Le Than Tong, Vinh To era, 1621.
From the center of Dat pagoda, there are two ancient wells in all directions: Trot Quan well and Dinh well (now Lien Hong hamlet), located about 500m away from the pagoda as the crow flies. Both of these ancient wells are located at the foot of the majestic Chung mountain range, where Dat pagoda and the temple of General Nguyen Dac Dai are located.
In the villagers’ memories, Trot Quan well had a source of water as clear as jade, surrounded by rows of elm trees. Next to the well was an ancient temple, with an elm tree with 6 large branches growing next to it. However, by 2019, Trot Quan well was buried.

People actively responded, individuals and businesses donated cash and goods worth nearly 800 million VND.
Trot Quan Well now, after being restored, the water level on normal days is always maintained at a depth of more than 1 meter. The depth of the well to the shore is more than 6 meters. The well has 2 dragons facing the North, each 217cm long. On the well wall, there are 17 lotus platforms, including 2 large lotus platforms placed solemnly on the well column. The well has steps up and down made of baked bricks.
