On the morning of August 25th, Thu Thuy ward, Cua Lo town, held a ceremony to celebrate its 30th anniversary (1994 - 2024).

Exactly 30 years ago, on August 29, 1994, the Government issued Decree 113/ND-CP establishing Cua Lo town and Thu Thuy ward by separating a part of Nghi Thuy commune with an area of 130 hectares. The entire ward has 1,446 households with 5,735 inhabitants, of which Catholics account for 49%.

With its advantages in coastal tourism, the Party Committee of Thu Thuy ward has led the people in effectively exploiting the potential to invest in and develop increasingly modern and well-equipped infrastructure. As of August 2024, Thu Thuy ward welcomed and served more than 1.5 million visitors, generating revenue from tourism activities exceeding 650 billion VND.

From a ward with an underdeveloped economy, where the total production value in 1995 was only 2.7 billion VND, it has now reached over 1,000 billion VND. The economic structure has shifted in the right direction, increasing the proportion of services (72.63%), industry and construction (26.35%), and decreasing the proportion of agriculture, forestry, and fisheries (1.02%). The average per capita income in the first six months of 2024 for the entire ward reached 194 million VND/year; the poverty rate is only 0.5%, and the near-poverty rate is 2%.

Alongside economic development, the socio-cultural sector has also achieved significant results. Cultural and sports facilities from the ward to the neighborhood level are becoming increasingly synchronized; cultural, artistic, physical education, sports, and information dissemination movements are always actively promoted and developed widely by the locality, attracting a large number of people from all walks of life; the percentage of culturally exemplary families annually reaches 90% or more; 100% of neighborhoods meet cultural standards, and wards have cultural and sports facilities that meet national standards.
At the same time, the work of Party building and strengthening the political system has been continuously consolidated in terms of organization, innovation, and improvement in the quality, content, and form of activities; national defense and security have been ensured.

In the coming period, Thu Thuy ward will focus on implementing the Project to improve the quality of tourist accommodation facilities in the area; paying attention to improving the quality of tourism services, promoting vocational training, and enhancing the skills, competence, and conduct of managers, staff, and workers in the tourism sector; and focusing on key projects in the area, especially urging the implementation of the large-scale, modern seafood market project. This project is of great significance to officials, Party members, and people inside and outside the ward, meeting the needs for trade and providing fresh, high-quality seafood for the people and tourists.

On this occasion, Thu Thuy ward was presented with a banner by the Cua Lo Town Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee bearing the inscription "The Party Committee, government, and people of Thu Thuy ward celebrate 30 years of construction and development".
