Phuong Vy: From 20 canceled shows to a message of self-love.

Eighteen years after winning the first season of Vietnam Idol, singer Phuong Vy shared heartfelt insights about her tumultuous career journey on the Showtime program. She opened up about the most difficult period, when she had 20 shows canceled in a single day, and how she rediscovered her passion thanks to her family and new experiences.

The journey of self-discovery in "Beautiful Women Riding the Waves"

Phuong Vy said that participating in the "Beautiful Women Riding the Waves" program was a turning point, helping her discover new limits of herself. The singer learned many new skills such as cheerleading, aerial acrobatics, pole dancing, and even rapping.

"The process of learning and doing new things in the program helped me discover a new side of myself. I can do those things, and quite well too," she shared. These experiences inspired her new music project called Slaydee.

Working with DTAP, one of the leading music production groups today, Phuong Vy was asked for the first time about the message she wanted to convey. "Over the years, I've faced so much pressure about my body and appearance... I wanted to create a song not only for all the girls out there, but also for everyone who feels small or insecure about themselves. I want them to listen to the song and feel proud of themselves, and love themselves."

The low point in career and the support of family.

The singer also candidly spoke about the most challenging period in her career, especially after giving birth. The changes in her appearance led to negative reactions and a crisis.

"Many of my shows were canceled. I remember one day I received 20 calls notifying me of cancellations. That really broke my heart. I hit rock bottom in my career at that time," Phuong Vy recalled. There were times when she thought her career was over.

During that period, her family, especially her husband, became her unwavering support. He was the one who encouraged her, saying, "You know, we'll create our own stage." They started making music videos at home and uploading them to YouTube. These simple, heartfelt creations gradually regained the audience's affection, helping Phuong Vy rediscover her courage and joy in music.

Looking back at the launching pad of Vietnam Idol

Looking back 18 years ago, Phuong Vy admits that when she won at the age of 20, she "was completely unaware of the meaning of the title and what she should do with it." However, she remains proud of being the first winner of Vietnam Idol.

She also expressed her gratitude to musician Duc Tri, who accompanied her and created suitable musical products, helping to shape her style in the early stages of her career. "He's like a tailor. He customizes the dress to fit you perfectly. But he's also wonderful because he never forced me," she said.

When asked for advice for the younger generation of singers, Phuong Vy shared: "Just listen to your heart. And on your journey, there will be many challenges. But with enough love and faith, I believe you will overcome them all."
