"We will continue to pursue an honest and open foreign policy... We are ready to cooperate with all countries, in the West and in the East, based on the principles of trust and equality," Xinhua quoted Russian President Vladimir Putin as saying at the 17th congress of the ruling United Russia party.

The Kremlin leader also added that Russia will work with partners to strengthen the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) and build a "great Eurasian partnership".

The EEU, comprising Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia, is an economic union established with the aim of optimizing the flow of goods and services among its members.

Earlier this month, Putin announced he would run for president again as an independent candidate next March, seeking a fourth term. At yesterday's congress, Putin outlined his vision for modernizing Russia. He pledged broader initiatives for businesses, a fight against corruption, and increased investment in healthcare and education.
