Following their talks on October 17th, Russian President Vladimir Putin drove his new Aurus, unveiled at his inauguration in May, to take his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fatah el-Sisi on a tour of the F1 racetrack in Sochi.RTReport the news.
Earlier, Trade Minister Denis Manturov led the two leaders to view two Aurus models: the Senat sedan and the Arsenal minivan. Both vehicles were part of the motorcade escorting the Russian President.
However, simply admiring them wasn't enough, so President Putin came up with the idea of test-driving one of the two cars, a move enthusiastically approved by President Sisi. They chose the sedan model and drove around the racetrack. The Russian president sat behind the wheel while the Egyptian president sat in the passenger seat.
Sisi wasn't the first foreign leader to be introduced to the Aurus by Putin. The Russian president had previously shown the car to Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and several other guests, but never took them for a test drive.
The Aurus line of vehicles has been under development in Russia since 2012, as part of a project called Kortezh.
