Differing opinions from viewers are creating divisions among the artists participating in "Brother Says Hi" and "Brother Overcomes a Thousand Thorns."
The fact that they aired simultaneously and had similar formats (scripts) pushed the two music reality shows, "Brother Says Hi" and "Brother Overcomes a Thousand Obstacles," into fierce competition.
In recent days, a group of viewers of the show "Brother Says Hi" have flooded the personal page of People's Artist Tu Long (who participated in "Brother Overcoming a Thousand Thorns") to leave offensive comments.
However, the artists participating in the program still expressed their solidarity and shared goal of contributing to music.
Considering the relative strengths of the artists, the veteran cast of "Brother Overcoming Thousands of Obstacles" has significantly more years of experience and career span than the Gen Z contestants of "Brother Says Hi." There is a considerable generational gap and differing standards among these artists.
In particular, Tuan Hung, from the show "Anh trai vượt ngàn khả năng" (Brother Overcomes Thousands of Obstacles), once sat in the coach's chair when Duc Phuc and Song Luan from "Anh trai say hi" competed as contestants in 2015.
At that time, Song Luan was considered to have a similar style to Tuan Hung and was hoped to join coach Tuan Hung's team. However, Song Luan was eliminated early.
One of the standout finalists in the "Brother Says Hi" competition is Quân AP, who also has a close connection with Tuấn Hưng. With his bright, resonant voice, Quân AP was even nicknamed "Little Tuấn Hưng." He has been heavily influenced by Tuấn Hưng for a long time and has had to make a great effort to overcome the shadow of his senior colleague.
When asked about Tuan Hung, the older brother who overcame countless obstacles, Quan AP said: "Everything I've said about him to this day remains unchanged. He will always be an icon, a senior figure with a significant influence on my career."
Amidst negative comments from some viewers that divided the artists in the two "brotherly" shows, Quân AP, along with Erik, Jsol, Đức Phúc, and Hùng Huỳnh, performed at Miss Universe Vietnam 2024, where they met with MC Thành Trung – who had previously participated in the "Brotherly Challenge" show.
MC Thanh Trung humorously asked the "brothers" about their feelings when facing "obstacles," and Quan AP hugged Thanh Trung very affectionately and expressed his goodwill. The image of Quan AP hugging MC Thanh Trung was shared and received many comments praising the young artists' behavior over the past few days.
In an interview with reporters, speaking from a neutral perspective, singer Minh Quân stated, "The artists in both programs tried their best, put in a lot of effort, and dedicated themselves completely to their performances. I watched both 'Anh trai say hi' and 'Anh trai vượt ngàn chông gai'. Each program had its own unique style, bringing together renowned artists with distinct musical styles and perspectives."
Each performance brought something new and unique in terms of staging, investment, and group performance. I truly appreciate the efforts of each artist, from seasoned veterans to energetic young talents. They all performed with great dedication.
