US security officials use personal email accounts for work-related communication.
The Washington Post reported that President Trump's senior security team uses personal Gmail accounts for work-related communication.

According to RIA Novosti on April 2nd, the Washington Post, citing sources, reported that President Donald Trump's national security team used a personal Gmail account to exchange work-related emails outside of the Signal Messenger application.
"Members of President Donald Trump's National Security Council, including White House National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, conducted government business through personal Gmail accounts, according to documents reviewed by The Washington Post and interviews with three U.S. officials," the Washington Post reported.
It should be noted that Gmail, unlike Signal, has a less secure method of encrypting messages, which is another example of violating principles for handling sensitive information.
The Washington Post added: “A senior aide to Mike Waltz used a commercial email service to exchange high-tech messages with colleagues at other government agencies about sensitive military positions and powerful weapons systems related to an ongoing conflict.”
Earlier, on March 24, the White House confirmed an unprecedented security incident in which the editor-in-chief of a newspaper was invited to a group chat of high-ranking government officials, including Vice President Vance, Secretary of Defense Peter Hegseth, and National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, to discuss operational plans against the Houthi rebels in Yemen.
To date, President Donald Trump has stated that he has no plans to fire any administration officials because of this scandal.
