New army and new fleet to be created in Russia
In Russia, by 2024, the size of the Armed Forces will be increased, in particular by creating a new army corps and a new fleet, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said at the meeting.
“In order to effectively protect the independence and security of our country, a number of measures will be taken to expand, increase the size and strengthen the armed forces. In particular, next year it is planned to create an army corps, consisting of seven divisions, 19 brigades, 49 regiments and one squadron,” Medvedev said.

Mr Medvedev stressed that the situation in the world and around Russia remains tense. We are talking about both the special operations zone in Ukraine and neighboring countries where NATO is constantly building up its military potential.
The army will be completed
The Vice President of the Security Council also added that President Vladimir Putin decided to continue the work of adding contract soldiers to the army in 2024. According to him, this is facilitated by the high patriotism and desire of the Russian people to protect their homeland.
Mr. Medvedev pointed out that since the beginning of this year, nearly 385,000 people have entered military service for the benefit of the army, of whom 305 are contract soldiers, about 80,000 are volunteers. He noted that every day more than 1,600 people are involved in the agreement. At the same time, all Russian servicemen deserve the utmost respect and they should be provided with all necessary support in the future, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Medvedev concluded.
