The Russian armed forces will soon receive new weapons based on laser and hypersonic energy technology. Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced this on June 18th.

"In the near future, the Russian army and navy will be equipped with completely new and unparalleled weapons," the minister said, adding that the first prototypes of these weapons have already undergone combat testing.
On June 18, at the opening of a practical scientific conference with the leadership of the Russian Armed Forces, Shoigu outlined the main tasks of the army in the near future.
According to him, it is now necessary to develop theories of warfare that take into account the characteristics of modern armed conflict.
In May of this year, Russian President Vladimir Putin declared that laser weapons would determine the combat potential of the entire Russian army and navy in the 21st century.
According to the Russian head of state, not long ago, tactical-level combat laser systems were only talked about in science fiction, but now "we have built them in reality."
