Sudanese troops destroy Chinese FK-2000 air defense system.
Sudanese government forces have neutralized a modern FK-2000 air defense system in the Ed Dubeibat area; this system combines artillery and missiles and is manufactured in China.
The Sudanese army announced the successful destruction of an FK-2000 air defense system belonging to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) during clashes in the Ed Dubeibat area of South Kordofan State. This was one of the most modern air defense systems to appear in the conflict, used by the RSF to counter Sudanese Air Force operations.

Technical specifications of the FK-2000 complex
The FK-2000 is a short-range air defense system (SHORAD) developed by the China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation. This system is designed to provide a flexible defensive umbrella for both mobile and stationary forces against airborne threats.
In terms of weapon structure, the FK-2000 is mounted on an 8x8 wheeled armored chassis. The combat module includes 12 surface-to-air missile launchers and two 6-barreled 30mm Gatling guns. This combination allows the system to destroy a wide variety of targets, from helicopters to cruise missiles.
Based on published specifications, the FK-2000 missile is capable of engaging targets at ranges from 1.2km to 25km. Its fire control system is based on a combination of radar detection and optical tracking systems, enhancing its ability to detect and track targets under various combat conditions.
Context of use and origin of military equipment in Sudan
Sudanese military sources said the FK-2000 system was reportedly delivered to the Rapid Support Force (RSF) by the United Arab Emirates via a transport route from Chad. The RSF has deployed these systems to protect units in central and southern Sudan.

Before being neutralized, the RSF's air defense forces were credited with inflicting significant losses on government forces, including shooting down a heavy Il-76 transport aircraft and various types of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Notably, the list of targeted aircraft also included the advanced Bayraktar Akıncı attack UAV manufactured by Türkiye.
The increasing presence of advanced weapons systems like the FK-2000 in Sudan is raising concerns among international observers about the proliferation of these weapons and the escalating conflict in this East African nation.
