- In recent years, you have sung in Vietnam quite rarely, mainly performing overseas. Some people say that Quang Dung has settled down to buy a house and choose to live mainly in the US. What do you say about this information?

- First of all, I feel happy because of the audience's attention. I think, Vietnamese music has a clear division, the singers' classes are also different. Therefore, at any time, you should build a solid foundation for yourself to be confident in life as well as decisive for future plans. I am not young anymore, whatever makes me feel good and confident, I will do.

- How do you feel the pressure of age affects your life and career?

- For artists, age is a concern because everyone is afraid of old age. Luckily, I chose to pursue lyrical music, so being neat is a must and cannot be frivolous. For me, personality and success on each stage of an artist's journey are important factors. In terms of life, I have prepared a solid foundation for the future, which makes me quite confident and not confused about age.

- Women are clearly aware of their age when looking in the mirror, but how did Quang Dung get startled by that?

- Actually, I don't feel that I'm too old, I just feel that I'm maturing in music, in voice, image, personality... Before, I was still immature, shy, often worried and pensive. But at this point, I feel very comfortable and confident in my thinking and way of life.

- After the breakdown in his love affair with Jennifer Pham, everyone saw Quang Dung withdrawing. Is it because he also loved but hid it too well or because he saw other things as more important and love is not the greatest thing to seek, desire and want to devote a lot to it?

- Over the past 20 years, there have been many ups and downs and incidents that have happened to me in life. Besides, thinking about and giving the best things to my grandchildren every day has made me mature and grown up. I realized that God does not give anyone everything, everything that happens has a reason, if you know how to reflect and behave properly and kindly, you will realize many valuable things. I just try to do the best for my family.

But the vibrations in love, have you touched enough or is your heart already hardened?

- I do think about the future, think about new happiness, but I believe in fate. So let love happen naturally. Love is a must, because it is the spirit of life. If I become callous or feel no heart flutter, it means I am no longer me.

What do you think is the reason for unfinished love stories?

- There are many feelings that come to me, but the promise of a future is not certain. Because two people need to have sympathy and understanding. The broken story in the past is also a psychological barrier for me. But if you truly love each other, everything will be overcome.

Has the burden of family and taking care of many grandchildren ever been a barrier in your love life? Has the burden of family caused you to struggle to make money?

- I thought a lot about it and it happened. The other person will first understand that I have been broken once, have children, and have a family burden, making it difficult for them to accept being with me for a long time. As for running shows, I try not to run too hard, not to strain myself too much to worry about finances. The pressure to make money has really passed for me.

You are preparing to perform a live show scheduled to be held in 3 locations with 3 nights of performances: Ho Chi Minh City on March 18, 2017, in Hanoi on March 31, 2017 and in California - USA on May 14, 2017. What is the reason you continuously do shows?

- This is a live show to celebrate 20 years of singing, after that I want to send my new path to the audience. Normally, in Vietnam, the symphony orchestra is only a part of the live show, but especially, in this live show, the symphony orchestra will be present from the beginning to the end of the program. That is the new path I will take in the near future.

Throughout the night of music will be the story of the journey from the homeland to Saigon to find one's dream and ambition. Through many difficulties and events, to today celebrate the 20th anniversary. It is a very emotional story, with seamless emotions when interwoven with songs. Particularly in the live show in Hanoi, the audience will see an additional section with songs about Hanoi.

Singing alone is hard, singing with an orchestra is even harder. Why don't you take the easy way out and make things difficult for yourself? What do you want to talk about in "A Dream with Your Name"?

- I have sung with the symphony orchestra in many programs such as: Ru tinh, Mua thu ha noi, Phu Quang's music program... I think that if you choose the easy path, singing a safe live show, you will not be able to convince the audience. Moreover, I am not excited about the 20-year milestone but leaving a boring live show.

Therefore, the combination with the symphony orchestra this time will be a new direction, bringing uniqueness. "The dream named after me", I only talk about my current dream at the age of 40, that dream is bigger than family, children and career. I don't like the dream of a shoulder because I am mature enough. (laughs).
