Secret filming - culturally and morally depraved behavior that needs to be stopped

The story of secretly installing cameras to film women to satisfy personal needs and purposes has created negative public opinion in the past few days, when model Chau Bui (Ho Chi Minh City) spoke up to denounce. Secretly filming or leaking images of others on social networks is an act that is strongly condemned. Artists and famous people are more easily targeted. Not only the law, but also each person in society, needs to be responsible for preventing this behavior.

Early morning on June 25, model Chau Bui caused a stir on social networks when she said that she had just become a victim of being secretly filmed in the restroom of a photo studio. As soon as she discovered the suspicion, she asked the photo studio owner to check the security camera and discovered a suspicious male subject. Checking the video from the hidden camera, the female artist was shocked to see clearly recorded sensitive footage of herself while changing clothes. Chau Bui worked with the authorities to handle the suspect and spoke out to warn the community.

It is worth mentioning that Chau Bui is not the first person to become a victim of secret filming. Previously, sensitive images of some female artists were spread on social networks due to secret filming or personal data intrusion. In 2020, a video of singer Amee wearing pajamas, exercising in a private room with friends, accidentally revealing some sensitive images was posted on social networks, causing this singer to have a mental breakdown. Amee's management company asked the authorities to intervene.

Previously, singer Van Mai Huong revealed a sensitive clip from an illegally accessed security camera. In 2014, Huong Tram also had sensitive images leaked while preparing for cosmetic surgery. The video not only clearly revealed the singer's face from "Em gai mua" but also showed most of her bust. In 2010, Trang Nhung's revealing image also became a hot topic in the press. The actress said the photo was secretly taken while she was adjusting her outfit for a wedding photo shoot. The dress's strap came loose, exposing part of her body. The image was saved and then leaked. However, at that time, because Trang Nhung was busy, she did not search for the culprit.

Secretly filming and leaking personal images on social networking sites is a serious violation of the privacy and honor of others. It often leaves severe psychological scars on the victims, causing serious consequences, from mental trauma to social and professional problems. Victims may face harassment, violence or even attacks from the online community.

Along with many cases of images and personal information in the showbiz world being leaked in the past, the story of model Chau Bui being secretly filmed is another warning about the degradation of personality of some subjects with deviant behavior in society. In the context of sophisticated secret recording devices being sold widely in the market today, this depraved behavior is easier to carry out, causing harmful consequences in society. Associate Professor, Dr. Do Canh Thin, Deputy Director of the Institute of Non-Traditional Security, criminology expert said that subjects carry out secret filming for many different purposes. Sometimes it comes from curiosity, perversion, to satisfy deviant interests (like the case of a landlord in Ha Dong - Hanoi who installed a secret camera in the bathroom of female students renting a room). But there are also people who secretly film for personal gain, by posting sensitive images online, selling information or using those videos and images to blackmail victims, creating pressure for victims to comply with their requests.

Perhaps this is also the reason why artists and celebrities are targeted by people with bad intentions. Because artists and celebrities often have a large number of followers, having their sensitive images in hand means the price for blackmail is also much higher.

Model Chau Bui was lucky to discover the incident in time and report it before her sensitive images were released. However, this incident has caused a lot of concern for artists and models, especially women... when they have to work in conditions that are constrained by time and space, and cannot always take precautions or control their safety conditions. At the same time, it shows the moral degradation of the person who committed the act, threatening the honor and dignity of many victims.

This situation requires strict measures to protect the privacy of each individual and prevent similar acts from recurring in the future, not allowing uncultured and unethical acts to affect the honor, dignity, and even ruin the careers and property of honest people.

According to current law, when discovered secretly filming (but not yet posted online, not yet distributed and this is the first time), only administrative fines will be imposed. If secretly filming and then blackmailing or distributing, causing serious consequences, then criminal prosecution will be imposed. Perhaps that is one of the reasons why secretly filmed clips are still abundant on the internet. Not to mention, many victims of secretly filming tend to resolve the issue internally because they are afraid of going to the "authorities", afraid that more people will know about their secretly filmed clips.

Even when the case of model Chau Bui was made public, the amount of information that guides and protects the victim in the mainstream press and media is still inferior to information on social networks with many types of curiosity, innocent requests - to watch and even rude comments, insulting the victim. That is the breeding ground for secretly filmed clips that still appear terribly as today. Not to mention online business people, for profit, they help post or share these secretly filmed clips to increase the number of interactions on their personal pages.

As long as society has not expressed strong enough indignation and has not created forums to strongly oppose and condemn the act of secretly filming others, it is difficult to believe that we can put an end to this depraved and uncultured behavior.

Not only with the subjects of secret filming, but we also need to express our indignation so that the crowd feels ashamed when publicly asking to watch secretly filmed clips. Also to strengthen the victims of secret filming and clearly realize their responsibility to the community, not to compromise, must hold the secret filming perpetrators responsible before the law. So that no one can become the next victim of the secret filming perpetrators that they have… forgiven.

Because the next victim, who knows, one day will be your own children and relatives. If today's ugly, uncultured things are not exposed, not punished but silently hidden, they will not naturally disappear, but will repeat next time with an uglier, more dangerous level./.
