Que Phong: 109 people affected by dioxin poisoning have not yet received benefits.

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of December 16th, Que Phong district held a meeting to summarize the work of the Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin in 2015 and set out directions and tasks for 2016.

Attending the event were leaders from the District Party Committee's Propaganda Department, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, representatives from various district-level departments, agencies, and mass organizations, and the Association of Victims of Agent Orange from 14 communes and towns.

Over the past period, with the support and attention of the entire society, the Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin has carried out many positive and effective activities. To date, 5 out of 14 branches of the Association are operational with 86 members participating in activities in the communes of Muong Ngoc, Tien Phong, Chau Kim, Thong Thu and Kim Son town. Due to backlog and lost records, 109 people infected with dioxin in the entire district have not yet received the state's preferential treatment.

Overview of the conference.

In 2015, Que Phong district raised 95 million VND to support dioxin victims. They provided care and support, implementing various preferential policies such as assisting with the repair of dilapidated houses, providing loans for production and business, granting scholarships to children of members affected by Agent Orange/dioxin, and giving 177 gifts during holidays and Tet (Lunar New Year). The total amount of support and gifts given in 2015 was 114,300,000 VND.

The association has proposed many solutions to improve operational efficiency, boost fund building, and provide both spiritual and material support to victims of Agent Orange to alleviate their suffering and improve their lives.

On this occasion, the Executive Committee of the Association awarded prizes to one collective and three individuals who have achieved outstanding results in the Association's activities and in mobilizing support for victims of Agent Orange/dioxin.
