On September 20th, the People's Court of Hong Linh town (Ha Tinh province) held a first-instance trial of Nguyen Chi Thanh (40 years old, residing in Bac Hong ward) on charges of destroying property and intentionally damaging property.

According to the indictment, at approximately 2 PM on June 13th, Thanh went to an ATM in the center of Hong Linh town to withdraw money but forgot his password, so he used a rock to smash the machines in anger. His actions damaged the screens of two ATMs.
Next, the man went to a mobile phone store a few hundred meters away and used a rock to smash the glass door. He managed to get inside, took a phone, and threw it outside to break it.
When Thanh was arrested, authorities determined that he was under the influence of drugs at the time of the crimes. The total damage from the two incidents amounted to nearly 70 million VND.
The court sentenced Thanh to 21 months in prison.
