French Parliament considers impeachment of President Macron
The French National Assembly will consider a resolution to impeach President Macron on September 17.

According to RIA Novosti on September 17, the French National Assembly's lower house will consider a resolution to impeach President Emmanuel Macron, proposed by the left-wing party "France Undaunted".
The “France Undaunted” party put forward this initiative, after the French leader ruled out the participation of the left in the government being formed, despite the victory of their coalition in the parliamentary elections. The proposal was made under Article 68 of the French Constitution, which provides for the possibility of removing the president, if he violates his duties.
The resolution of the “France Undaunted” party was supported by 81 deputies from the left-wing Popular Front bloc, of which 72 were MPs from the France Undaunted Party, as well as the Green Party and several other deputies from the Democratic Left and the Republican Party.
The Chamber - the highest body of the House of Representatives, of which 12 of the 22 members are currently representatives of the left - must decide on the admissibility of the resolution.
In addition, the Socialist Party refused to support the initiative of the “France Undaunted” party. Former French President Francois Hollande, as well as Green Party leader Marine Tondelier, have publicly voiced their opposition.
If the impeachment resolution is passed, the text of the resolution must then be approved by the 73-member Legislative Committee, of which the left holds only 24 seats. Then, two-thirds of the National Assembly (385 members) must vote in favor within two weeks. The final two stages must also be completed in the Senate, where the left does not have a majority.
However, if the bill is passed by the Senate (232 votes). And the House and Senate in a joint session, the resolution must be supported by 617 of the 925 members of both houses. In this case, the president's resignation is immediate.
